At home in Saint Paul I wasn't able to call out or receive calls with Alltel(0-1 bars). However I found a way to change the phone to analog mode and get 5 bars. Then I added an external antenna for about $25 including an adapter and can even connect to the internet occasionally but am still experimenting. With the cheap antenna digital mode now shows 3-5 bars. I saw in the local newspaper that Alltel is putting a tower in Saint Paul and that should be very helpful. Until then if you have a phone that has a place to connect an external antenna or want to change to analog mode when u can't get a digital signal u can get an analog signal in most areas.
