Nextel... Very disappointing, My customers say they will by me a new phone. It takes average 3 calls to complete a 5 minute conversation. Direct connect is invaluable in field service but who cares when it does not work! Direct Connect good singnal baaddd!
Coverage is pretty good throughout NOVA / Wash DC. Alexandria is OK. Fluctuates between No reception and Average near 7100 / Rolling Rd where a majority of my calling is at. Pretty frustrating. The issue is exacerbated by a horrible phone, that needs to be replaced. Partly my fault because I refuse to go through the arduous / bureaucratic process they have, and it's just easier to pay the ETF and port my phone number within 24 hours to another carrier.
Poor signal strength. Normally one, or no bars. Signal "fades" frequently, and calls are dropped. If you have to make an important phone call in this area, use a lind line if available. I would hate to think that someone may not be able to get emergency assistance due to poor signal strength from a mobil phone. Why can't the service providers fix the Springfield service area issue? It's been shoddy long enough!
Perfect signal around my house, neighborhoods, school, work, etc. I do hit a 50 yard drop zone by Saint Bernadette's catholic church, but, in a car, it's noticed as a 5 second drop, before hitting back up to 5 bars.
I just moved into a townhouse on Westmore Dr.in Springfield. I get absolutely no reception in my house. I've called Cingular twice and they haven't returned my calls. My neighbor just moved in and he doesn't get reception either. When the COX cable guy came out, he couldn't get a signal on his cell phone to call COX and tell them to initialize my service. I think it has something to do with the big traffic alert sign that is on the right as you pass Westmore and head to the mixing bowl... I think it jams the signals.
