I'm in Daventry Park (not Daventry). I usually have one bar if I set the phone by the east-facing window, and sometimes it goes up to 2 bars. As soon as I move away from the window I get zero. I guess I'll try verizon.

AT&T Coverage on Rolling Rd. from Rt. 1 to Braddock Rd. is horrible. Do not subscribe to AT&T if you frequently travel this route.

I have tried Sprint, Cingular, Nextel, and AT&T. I have not tried Verizon and T-Mobile. Also, I have not tried GSM. Reception is poor, 0 to 1 bar throughout Daventry Community Association which is located on Hunter Village, sandwiched between Old Keene Mill and Fairfax County Parkway. The Daventry Board of Directors actually rejected a bid by one major carrier to install a tower disguised as a tree. They did so without surveying the 1,000 homeowners who live in Daventry. If I had cell reception, I would cancel my home phone, and so would 80 percent of my neighbors.

OK outdoors in the winter when the foilage is gone. Standing in the doorway of the townhome - maybe one bar. Spring Summer the reception marginally better. I rried T-Mobile, Cingular, AT&T and Verizon had the best reception, such as it is. Wireless is West Springfield is just plain awful.

My T616 is awful, I am always at 2 bars or less. But, with my previous phone Nokia 6200 the signal strength was much better. But even with this is does not compare w/ Verizon. My co-worker has a 6200 as well and would be able to use her inside a very secured inside, inside the bowels of a larger building. But, not even my 6200 could compete with the Verizon coverage. Cingular is very dissappointing and I will soon rid myself of them.

I can get reception everywhere with this T-Mobile except in my house...or my neighborhood. I'm really disappointed with the service.

Average to below average reception inside buildings, perfect to good outside. GSM 1900 MHz cannot penetrate buildings well. For Northern Virginia, Verizon provides the best service.

Nextel... Very disappointing, My customers say they will by me a new phone. It takes average 3 calls to complete a 5 minute conversation. Direct connect is invaluable in field service but who cares when it does not work! Direct Connect good singnal baaddd!

As of 8 / 28 / 07 the new VZW "Chapel Acres" cell site is officially up and running. Saw the VZW "test men" in their "porcupine-mobiles" laden with antennae, riding up and down the streets testing the reliability of the new signal. Since this is a new cell site to fill in a long unserved area, it is ALL-DIGITAL (CDMA only, no analog AMPS) and will also fill a gaping hole in their Broadband Access, EV-DO, Rev. A, and 1XRTT coverage maps. Such a pleasure to have clear, strong reception in this former "death valley" for cell phones. Coverage reaches approx from Waterline Dr.(on the FC Pkway) to Sydenstricker overpass to Rolling Rd overpass. Also fills in all those dead areas along Hooes Rd south of the Pkway to Silverbrook, and Pohick Rd past Newington Forest almost to Alban Rd (near the covered-bridge townhouses!)
