Generally get either 1 bar or no service in the Sugarland Run neighborhood. Service on surrouding Rt7 and on Algonkian is ok, but not great. Seems to be a similar problem for my friend's Verizon phone.

Have had T-Mobile since Oct 2004 but could not get any reception at home at Great Falls Chase and Algonkian parkway. Also it dropped very frequently on Wheele. Looking for a new service for these areas...

Just got one from work. Policy forces me to use Verizon. This is useless... If I hang off my deck... when the sun is in Aries on an odd-numbered day, I might get one bar. Still better than two cans and a string (just). Does anybody have any tips on raising carrier pigeons? Nextel has great reception here but the billing is out of control. They are a complete rip-off.

Poor coverage, frequent dropped calls even though it is a heavilly populated / traveled area. Frequent calls to Sprint have failed to produce any results as far as improving coverage. If you're in your house, FORGET IT!

I haven't had a single problem with this phone in this area. I want to move to GSM service so that I can use my phone when I travel internationally. But given the troubles people have with Cingular and T-Mobile in this area, it doesn't seem worth the trouble. Sigh.

Good coverage along route 7. Very spotty coverage in the Cascades area away from Route 7 -- locations on the river side of the hills are blocked from the Route 7 towers and only one tower on the Maryland side just east of Leesburg is providing any direct coverage along Algonkian -- and service from that tower has been fluctuating between average to non-existent over the past 5 months. Not reliable for emergencies if you walk / bike in the area.

Sprint PCS has the best service in the DC area in my view. If you're having problems getting a signal, I used to also. Until I switched to a Sanyo Sprint PCS Phone. Sanyo spends the most time working with Sprint to make their phones. Samsung, LG, Motorola, they all suck with Sprint. Stay with Sprint and get a Sanyo.

There is no reception on AT&T GSM phones in the Cascades area. My company recently switched from AT&T TDMA (which was acceptable) to AT&T GSM. I now have just 1 bar at home on the 2nd floor and none anywhere else in the entire region. Stuck with it.

I bought a T-Mobile phone, and there is simply no reception North of Route 7, in the Cascades / Algokian / Lowes Island Area. Returned the phone and T-Mobile admitted there is no reception in this area.
