Dreadful coverage on AT&T. Why do they even bother selling phones here? In 24 hours, I've dropped 4 of 6 calls. Phones are constantly "searching for service" and data is almost always dropping down to Edge when we can even use it.

I could never make calls, no reception at Regent University. I switched to Verizon and I get full service inside my apartment. So glad I switched! If you live in Virginia Beach, DO NOT GET AT&T!

The phone was saying it had service when it didnt, so when I would place a call it would drop the call and then say "searching for service".

Lola Drive, near Albright in Virginia Beach. But it could be the house I'm in. When I'm downtown, in VA Beach or Norfolk, great reception.

AT&T is crap. I can't wait till february to switch. More bars in more places my butt! The comercials they are putting out lately about so and so not getting any bars and missing out on something,HAHA. they are the biggest culprits of this. No one I know with this service is happy and we will all be leaving!

I cannot get reception anywhere in the house, or even near it. I need to stand in front yard at least 25 feet from the house. No reception in the back yard either. Spotty reception around town too.

Shore Drive / Lessner / Croakers Restaurant, Virginia Beach, VA 23455 |
Thu Feb 28, 2008 |
For the first time, my iPhone said "no service" inside Croakers. Looking up the towers online, there's a Cingular tower not that far away on Page Avenue. Do some restaurants use some kind of device to block cell phone signals since they don't want them used in the restaurant? Just curious...

1 to 2 bars at best, have written Cingular and complained; never heard back, Store looked up my area and said I had a weak signal, nothing they could do about it. Have tried Sprint phones, still weak signal, I'm going to drop ATT and do to GOphone just to have in car.

Terrible reception in apt. Calls drop and fail to connect all the time. Cannot get signals half the time when in malls. Have to stay close to patio or windows to make a descent call. Sometimes, even outside i'll get a network error message. It might be the phone but I never had these problems before the merge with AT&T. Put 2 and 2 together. Im checking out some other companies.

Although there is a new tower near the Little Neck Swim and Raquet Club, much of little neck is still a wireless black hole. Find a carrier that uses an 850 mhz system and get a repeater if you plan on using your phone in much of kings grant, middle plantation and anthing further north on little neck RD.

3-6 bars of service in my house. Cingular is great in Virginia Beach. I used to have a Nokia 6360 on Suncom's TDMA network. That service was great. Then I got a Nokia 3220 on Suncom's GSM network. Service was crap in neighborhoods. Always got the network busy signal. Then Suncom merged with Cingular. Now I have a Nokia 6230. Service is great. I have perfect reception almost everywhere. Cingular is great!

ATT / Cingular merger has been a nightmare for the customer in my opinion. Used to have much better reception on Motorola T725's we purchased in 1 / 05. Cingular just came in and made us swap for a choice of 11 inferior phones (so much for the $300 just spent in January). Now come to find out one of the numbers they assigned is considered Long Distance if dialed from a land line here in the area. Called Cingular who is willing to do nothing till they get more numbers which they say could be June. Appears along with poor reception they also are into overbooking their network by selling local service they can not cover.
