I usually have great reception. But when I'm in the Greenbrier area of Chesapeake along Providence Rd. my phone will go in and out of sevice, but still have a full signal. I think its just the phone, because my old phone never did that. Also I can never get a signal in Lynnhaven Mall. Maybe if I'm lucky I'll be able to get 1 bar and talk for a couple of seconds before I get a dropped call. Other than that, I've had near perfect reception. Even in tunnels I can still get reception.
ATT / Cingular merger has been a nightmare for the customer in my opinion. Used to have much better reception on Motorola T725's we purchased in 1 / 05. Cingular just came in and made us swap for a choice of 11 inferior phones (so much for the $300 just spent in January). Now come to find out one of the numbers they assigned is considered Long Distance if dialed from a land line here in the area. Called Cingular who is willing to do nothing till they get more numbers which they say could be June. Appears along with poor reception they also are into overbooking their network by selling local service they can not cover.
i always have 3 to four bars and even when I have one 1 bar I can still direct connect its the best service to get in my area and I have had t-mobile, sprint, and verizon
I also use Suncom. I use to have the Panasonic Allure. The reception was awful and my calls were constantly dropped. Suncom suggested I get another phone. So I upgraded to the Motorola T725, Great phone!... sometimes. My reception is always lost, most of the time, when I am inside of buildings. The worst part is that when the reception is lost, the phone tells me to insert sim card for an hour, preventing me from using the phone at all! I've heard that SunCom has a reception booster you can purchase for approx. $30 but thats just lame.
Suncom AT&T drops calls consistently on Laskin Road, Rt 264, General Booth Blvd and more.... For those not from the area, the first road mentioned is a main Va Beach thoroughfare and to top it off the drop call location is about 2 blocks from a Suncom storefront. Frequent complaints have done nada. Also, voice messages may take up to several days to receive. You could have your phone on while in Target (where there is no reception at all) someone could call, leave a message and you wouldn't know for several days! Also, in recent months it has taken multiple dial outs to actually complete a call. DO NOT USE SUNCOM - THEY SUCK.
