I'm pleased with the reception I've gotten from Alltel and I would recommend it to others. It seems like I've always got a good signal. It drops off a little indoors, but I've never been in any campus building or store that I couldn't make a call from anywhere. Love this phone, it sounds crystal clear. I've had several people ask me what provider I use in several places because they're getting no service and in comparison, Alltel seems to do great here.

I agree with others reviewing other networks that William and Mary is a little bit of a trouble area, I can still hold a call throughout campus and not drop but I get down to about 2 bars in most buildings but some buildings seem worse, I don't know if it's interference or what. I've tried Verizon and that got down to 0-1 bars and doesn't work in the same places. So overall, I'm happy with Alltel and after listening to friends and trying Verizon and Alltel, Alltel is definitely the best option around here. Friends with Cingular and Sprint tell me not to even think about getting them. I wish they'd allow another tower closer to W&M though for all providers. Throughout the rest of Williamsburg, coverage just fine, much better than it was with Verizon. I average 1-2 extra bars with Alltel and the calls don't drop. They sound clear. Love the My Circle feature, my family plan went from $110 / month to $70 / month with My Circle because I didn't need 2100 anytime minutes. Don't pay Verizon's outrageous prices, Alltel gives more minutes and My Circle. I'm working hard on converting the rest of my family not on my account, but I've loved Alltel here since I got it. I don't have any problems where I live, at the mall, in any of the residential areas, at Wal-Mart. I'm happy with the service all over Williamsburg and compared to others, it's just as good or better everywhere.

Cannot make calls out of our frame house or in this general area. But can receive cellular calls. Strange situation.

I have excellent reception using AT&T (formerly Cingular) as my wireless provider. I carry my cellphone everywhere as a safety measure, even when I play golf.

Wildly varying signal strength on AT&T in the Five Forks area. 1 bar or no service inside of buildings or near trees is the norm. Sometimes signal strength will jump dramatically, and go to 3-4 bars for no discernable reason. (Suspect that there's not enough bandwidth on the tower in this area.) Very frustrated with the fickleness of reception in the house; cannot rely upon cell phones while at home, so a land-line is a must. Calls will allways drop around Lake Powell, but resume again once you get closer to 199 on Jamestown Road. From 199 on signal strength is generally good to very good. Generally surprised with how good AT&T reception is downtown, considering how poor it is outside of 199.

I thought reception was bad inside my Fraternity house built in the late 1900's, until I moved to VA. It's hard to even make a call inside my house, or even in my back yard. Over near Wal-Mart / Lowes it's not so bad, but it's sad when I get better service in Culpeper than I do in Williamsburg :(
