For several months now I only get one bar or less traveling Interstate 89 North and South between exit 9 and exit 12. It used to be I would only drop calls on French hill and around Exit 9 (waitsfield / Warren) Now it's the entire trip. I can't wait for another carrier to come to Vermont.
RT 110 to Washington I have no reception from about 1 / 2 way from East Barre to Washington. In Washington itself reception is spotty. No reception in Hannafords SuperMarket until almost out of driveway.
however, it really depends on the usual factors: weather, battery condition etc. If I have been using the phone a lot (calls, sms), it will drop to 2 - 3, but normally is around 4 or 5. According to these maps when the count is five I apparently am aiming right at a tower, about 3 miles away. Somehow I've gotten by. Must be a new tower, as recently as last winter, I had virtually no service from my home. Now it's "Perfect."
I have done my research with phones and services, and I think that Verizon Wireless (VZW) is the best service. However, you need to have a tri-mode phone in Vermont. I can go on most back roads in vermont and have reception, this is great. VZW is the best service for Vermont, in my opinion.
