As far as I've seen, AT&T has solid coverage across all of Burlington and the immediate surrounding area. Never had a problem with them. Coverage seems to have been increased with the recent deployment of 3G.

As Unicel continues to build more towers, the GSM network is proving to outperform everyone. I got lost looking for a friend's house in the absolute middle of nowhere and never lost coverage when I needed directions, even though I was forced to call my friend on her landline because our particular location disabled her phone. I typically hate everything about cell phones and cell phone companies, but this was excellent.

Great Nextel service in Burlington, all over campus, and within the city limits. Only in Milton along Bear Trap Road. That's the ONLY place in Chittenden County that I haven't gotten service. Good service in NW Vermont. Service good to Canadian Border, except between Georgia and St Albans. Swanton and St Albans good. I-89 to Montpelier good, Vermont 15 to Stowe good, US 7 to Middlebury Good. Never less then two bars.

Excellent coverage most places. Strong signal. Live in rural Chittenden County and have to go to certain spot for signal inside house (strong outside) but get coverage where Verizon and AT&T don't get any at all. Why isn't T-Mobile here yet? They have great coverage and a VT Certificate of Public Good, but no local #s / store!

Reception around Burlington is spotty to say the least. I had a TDMA AT&T phone recently and got good signal all over town. With GSM, it seems that I more frequently do not have signal then when I do. The GSM that is availabe is quite good. The center of town is blanketed nicely, as one moves to the north (Winooski / N. Burlington) the coverage get spotty. As GSM picks up more customers, the service will get better. It always sucks to be an early adopter.

The phone gets reception fairly well, but the main problem is when people call me, the call doesnt go thru to my phone 4/5 times. But I can make calls fine at anytime without any hassle. They say Cingular will have better reception by November.

If I'm lucky I can get 2 bars but one is the norm and even if you start with 2 it usually drops to 1 and the call usually drops soon after.

Calls tend to drop in this area. There has been a slight improvement but it shouldn't be a problem in Burlington.

Funny thing: the phone shows 4-5 bars but has no receptions and will not make calls. Also, off Waybury Rd. / Colchester Pt. Rd.- no reception.

People here and elsewhere claim that Unicel and Nokia are good, but I get no bars in my office with Unicel and a Nokia 6085h, whereas my officemate has no problems making calls with a cheapo Jitterbug service and phone. I think a lot has to do with what tower your service connects to.

I live in Massachusetts and visit family in the Burlington area once every couple of months. I thought I had absolutely no reception in the entire state of Vermont until I recently took a different way home and had reception for about a 5 mile radius near Killington. That is the only time my T-Mobile phone has ever worked in Vermont. The coverage map on T-mobile's site claims to have roaming coverage in Vermont, especially around Burlington and Montpelier, but I've never had service up there.
