Obviously US cellular has been doing some upgrades in the area. Reception is perfect 24 / 7 now and I can actually talk on this phone all the way to Peltier's in Dorset before the call drops. Up until about 6 months ago calls would drop well before the quarry. Now, if they would just get us some coverage in all of Dorset, Pawlet and Rupert all would be good. I hear that their 3G system is coming soon so may upgrade my phone to a Blackberry Curve!
Unicel is the A Carrier and undisputed leader in our neck of the woods. However once you get out of the Route 7 corridor, there are problems for all carriers. Most roaming her is to Unicel which has GSM service
Sprint has "island"coverage in this area provided by one tower just east of downtown. Statewide coverage is good along major roads and in larger cities. Not good in rural areas, similar to other carriers.
Sprint PCS works great in Manchester, Rutland, and Bennington, and everywhere else in major metropolitan areas. By this I mean strong PCS digital service. Its also pretty solid from Bennington to Albany in PCS mode. I do roam on the way up to Rutland, but very strong signals now all the way up. Have not been to Bennington in a while so can not comment between Mancester and Bennington.
