It's great here and at Norwich university. It's really the only carrier that will be here too. There is a AT&T place right on campus even. ONce in a blue moon you will go from 5bars to 1 for no reason but I still have not had a dropped call.
Repeated attempts to get a decent signal at Norwich University Upper Parade Ground, specifically Wilson Hall (2nd floor, west facing windows) and Alumni Hall (3rd and 5th floor, east facing windows) were unsuccessful with Verizon Wireless over the past 2.5 years. The best coverage at 2 bars was accomplished by leaning out the 5th floor windows (top floor) at Wilson Hall... not the best way to have a private conversation. This is even though Verizon has purchased RCC / Unicel in the area in summer 2007 and DOJ and FCC approval were given to complete the sale in July, 2008. Many calls with Verizon Wireless customer service reps led nowhere as to when these two cell providers would merge their technology in the Northfield, VT area. RCC / Unicel provides GSM cell service, while Verizon Wireless provides CDMA / TDMA cell service. Verizon Wireless service drops off dramatically as you come down route 64 to route 12 into Northfield, VT from the south. RCC / Unicel is still the only reliable primary provider in the Northfield area. AT&T / Cingular and Sprint roaming coverage is through the Unicel tower system.
nothing, absolutely no reception at all with Verizon in this area. cancelled all Verizon contracts and will look for a carrier with better service. northfield, vermont
