Sprint has at least two towers that provide very good coverage to Rutland. In Vermont I have found reliable coverage from Sprint on major roads and in most towns and cities. I have a plan which allows me to roam for no extra charge so when I am out of Spring service I can usually find a US Cellular tower or a Verizon tower. I have used other carriers in Vermont but with the roaming from Sprint I think they provide the most complete coverage. Verizon is also good and they use 800MHz which provides slightly better in building reception.

The city of Rutland and surrounding area are covered well by Sprint. Route 7 is also covered well throughout the length of the state. Between Sprint and their partners I get service on major roads and in most towns (with the exeption of a 10 mile stretch of Route 4 between Killington and Woodstock) Unfourtunately I live in a rural area and I have between 0 and 2 bars of Sprint servie and between 0 and 2 bars of digital roaming at my house. Finding service or holding a call is difficult on many back roads and when you are away from population. Over all, Vermont is not covered well by any wireless provider. 9 times out of 10 my Sprint phone has better service than my friends that use Verizon. Cingular does not cover the state but they have roaming in Vermont which was surprisingly good. A friend's phone had good service off Unicel towers when my Sprint phone was crapping out. If you need service in Vermont either start writing letters or get an antenna of some kind because cell phone service in most parts of Vermont is a mean joke.
