Wretched GSM coverage for Cingular (and T-Mobile) in that area. I routinely drop calls when I'm at home, and my signal strength varies between 1 and 2 bars.

I just bought Verizon service and found out that my service is terrible. I can be standing still and the reception changes from no service to 3 bars (best I can get) to extended network to entering network al in the span of 5-10 minutes. Most of the time if I have service it is extended network. The nearest cell phone tower is less than 1 / 2 mile away and I can almost see it from my house but get service - No way. I am very disappointed, and Verizon provides no assistance and acknowledge probelms in Newport Hills and Newcatle.

When you come down the hill on NE 8th st., your signal will drop as well. Most of the time you can make a call from inside the building but after few tries.

We have always had great reception with our TDMA phone from AT&T - never did switch to GSM because of all the horror stories about coverage. Now suddenly, we are finding TDMA service is somehow "reduced" in certain areas. This has happened suspiciously after the Cingular merger. Amazingly enough, in the new TDMA dead zones - GSM works great. Doesn't make technological sense to me. The west side of Clyde Hill / east Medina is a horrible area now for AT&T / Cingular TDMA. I have no reception in my house at all.

I need to stand on my driveway to get a decent signal. Inside my house is incredibly spotty. According to T-Mobile rep in a store, the reception in my area should be great (5 towers near by), but my house seems to be in a shadow somehow. Otherwise the phone and service have been great.

T-Mobile coverage is very poor, although if I move next to a window or go outside, it comes up to respectable levels. There's a dead zone on 164th Ave. SE which doesn't help any. At least T-Mobile has good customer service and their pricing is the best.
