AT&T sucks out here, 1-3 bars max, incredibly slow data, google home page takes 30sec to load. I mean what the hell, paying for 3G speeds is pointless with this company. Frequently kicks out to Edge and its just as bad. With so many businesses in this area, I just don't get what AT&T is doing.

Something has changed this past month. I had few signal problems until about a month ago. Now there is only 1 bar; cannot talk inside - have to take phone outside to get more than 1 bar and even then I am lucky to get 2 bars. Also, inside the phone almost always goes directly to voice mail - calls almost never make it through even though the phone is right by a window. Time to switch carriers I think.

I think you are a bunch of whiners who can't tell why your having issues. Did you drop the call or did the other phone drop the call. You leave no particulars as to what happened at that time. I have researched each and every phone I have ever had over 20 years before purchasing it. I don't use Smartphones because I have no use for ringers,games,e-mail and other crap being put on them. My e-mail is forwarded as a notification only. My ringer is what came with it. Blah Blah Blah.

I am new to the area and with Verizon I have been getting a great deal of roaming notices. Good reception but concerned with the roaming which I have been told is just tower bouncing.

typically we have zero or one bar - it is pretty much impossible to call, receive, or maintain a call here. sometimes our phones roam onto verizon's network and that isn't much better at our location.

Inside choppy reception, outside is better. Overall in the area the reception is from 0 to 3 bars

Is it technically possible to have no reception on top of a hill? Why yes, yes it is!

Basically 1 reception bar all over the hill. C'mon, I'm on top of a friggin hill and can't get better reception?! AT&T is okay in downtown, but even then, I still get calls dropped constantly. I get better reception in the middle of nowhere in South Africa! If you're even considering cell service in Seattle, you'll be wise to stay FAR away from AT&T. (BTW, the customer service is absolutely useless...hold times are usually over 1 hour!!!)

Dropped calls and/or no reception. Sometimes can't send/receive calls, even with two bars. Not just on the streets I listed. The worse thing is that I was with AT&T (TDMA) over three years and put up with decent service, then I had to sign up for a year contract to switch to GSM (don't get me started on the whole account transfer fiasco) and I'm still waiting for this miracle upgrade of GSM reception, but I'm not holding my breath. Don't you just love leaning up to windows and praying for reception?

I have had consistent great service with AT&T. I think it all depends on the phone. I have had my Nexus One for about a month and places where I used to have sorta iffy service, now is great. I was able to drive from Bothell to Chehalis, which is almost 100 miles, and didn't drop once using 2G / EDGE (i locked it down so the battery would last longer, long conference call). 3G calls have worked as well when I've needed them made. Data speeds on 3G are awesome too. I avg about 3100kbps down 1650kbps up. A friends Droid only could get 630 down.
