Reception is pretty good for voice and SMS. However, Data reception is poor to say the least. Outside, you may get reception, but inside any building there is no reception. I can sit next to an AT&T or Sprint phone user and they are streaming data no problem. Also, driving just south of town along the river, there is limited data coverage for this new phone.

I am local. In Leavenworth proper Unicel, which has lease agreements with Cingular and TMobile (GMS system) and Verizon work about the same. Half of Leavenworth is covered by Verizon and half by Sprint. Sprint is the most recent, so has few towers. Unicel has plenty of towers locally and in Leavenworth itself. So the shadows vary when underneath the towers. Most of us are with Verizon. I had to switch from Unicel because on occasion I would have missed calls when I shouldn't have. I recently tried them again after my 2 year contract with Verizon expired. Again I could be in the exact same spot and range from no service to three bars. They had no explanation for this two years ago and now even though they have switched to the GMS system they still seem to have the same issue. The Chumstick and Blewitt Pass has better service with Unicel versus Verizon. Nobody will have service in the Tumwater canyon or Icicle canyon except for a few pockets. Towards Stevens Pass on US HWY 2 Verizon has the better service. I haven't much experience with Sprint. I know of no locals who use Sprint. Unicel has by far the better service plans compared to Verizon, Cingular, Tmobile, etc.. I wish they worked for me. I have had no problems with Verizon Service. When there are a lot of tourist in town the GMS system can get overloaded and be a problem that Verizon doesn't have.

Verizon covers downtown Leavenworth, but not much else. There is no signal in Tumwater Canyon nor Icicle Rd, past mile post 2. Reception at Ski Hill is marginal. Nextel seems to cover these areas much better than Verizon.
