I've been using boost mobile here in Oak Harbor for the past 6+ months and overall service is pretty good. I have atleast 2-3 bars indoors on base. The only spots where my service drops, all my friends phones drop too. So besides a few dead zones, service is good.

This is ridiculous! The AT&T coverage map says this area has the best coverage. No matter where I am on base there are ZERO bars or one on a good day. I can't believe I actually have to go out to town in order to use my cell.

Used to get good coverage, but for the past two months almost no coverage. Many many many dropped calls. AT&T not too interested in doing anything to improve the quality or restore service to previous level.

I have been a loyal customer of T-Mobile for almost 6 years, and at first, they were amazing. About two years after I joined them, I upgraded to a Motorola Razr, but it buzzed in my ear all the time. I called and complained many times and they would troubleshoot it, or send me a new SIM card. I begged and begged for them to replace the phone. Finally the manufacturers warranty ran out and it was too late. They did not care that I was not satisfied, but the buttons started falling off of my phone and I was still under contract, so I went ahead and bought a cheaper, different phone. T-Mobile has lied to me, and manipulated me into changing my service as well, causing my bill to sky rocket. The latest plan change is the Family Allowence. I tried managing the usage for the 3rd line on our family plan, but somehow the user was able to go over their allowence, causing overages, which is why we got the allowences to begin with. SO... .. T-Mobile sucks. The phone I have now is just an average joe phone. I still get a lot of dropped calls, and the "run around" when I have an issue that I want to discuss with customer care. I suppose I have stayed with them for so long because I was hoping things would get better, but they have only gotten worse. I am going to switch to BOOST mobile. The phones are expensive, but the unlimited usage is a great deal!

The closest tower is over a mile east by south east but to to the topography (lay of the land) inhibits a signal in my neighborhood. Having a wifi network and a smartphone that can connect to that network, it helps with sending data to and from the outside world; but doesn't do much for making calls. Getting a in house amp(1900 / 800 ghz GSM network) will help out alot.

Terrible reception is any at all. Only retrieve service about every five minutes and even then, your phone needs to be exactly stationary and in a precise position. I do with AT&T would divert some of their budget into covering more of this area with stronger coverage.

Well, in the hills above Albertsons / Walmart on Barrington I get pretty bad coverage with Verizon. I have 2 VZW phones, 1 is decent (1bar) and the other never has any bars. Other than at my house, reception is decent all over the island. I'm considering switching to ATT but not sure yet.

Wow -3rd world is about right. I just switched from Nextel to Sprint, but it ain't 'sprint'ing by any means. Missed calls, POOR reception (1-2 bars at most on a good day) OK in town like everyone else, Wally World and Albertsons are completely out on both carriers. I guess since we just got electricity, we have to wait for a decent phone...

Spotty at best on very clear days. I've considered getting on top of my house with wire hangars in both hands. I am about to switch providers, and was checking here to see who gets the best reception, seems like a crap shot no matter who you pick. One of the other posters was right on when they said it's like living in a 3rd world country in Oak Harbor.

Not too happy with the reception on base. Many locations are either completly dead or in and out. Not so bad out in town but poor again on West Beach and Libby. Looking for a good provider for both the NAS and West Beach area.

I live at the top of West Beach Rd and have perfect reception. At the bottom of the hill down by the houses that line the beach, it is a complete dead spot. Overall, my reception on Whidbey Island is outstanding. Walmart and Albertson's are also dead spots though I do get lucky with a successful call every now and then. But then again, every Walmart I have been in has been a dead spot. The only other dead spots I have encountered is at Deception Pass and going through the Campbell Lake area. I even get reception on base inside my hanger office upstairs in a room with no windows.

Reception here is poor and varies from 1 to 2 bars. Lots of dropped calls. Considered using a Sprint card for internet service but don't want poor reception on the internet. Seven years ago we started with AT&T. Service at first was very bad but improved to about 3 bars. Quit them because their pricing scheme sometimes cost us boucoup bucks due to delayed billing especially when roaming in B.C. Canada-- from their Rogers Network which was owned by AT&T. We like Sprint's "Fair and (automatically) Flexible" plan, but reception sucks. We're considering Verison when our contract is up.

I Have lived in numerous places and this is the worst area for coverage I have ever experienced. I started here with Cingular and got 0 / 1 bars at best so changing to Sprint was hoping for a great improvement. Well I guess you could say I Doubled by reception now I get 1 / 2 bars at any given time with numerous dead spots where I cant even get a signal. Like living in a third world country.

Sprint PCS user in Oak Harbor for 6+ years. Coverage inside Oak harbor is good except for Walmart / Albertsons area. Lose reception also on SR20 in Dugualla Bay and at Deception Pass, but otherwise good north of Oak Harbor. Spotty reception south of Coupeville-to-Freeland, none in Ft Ebey SP or in Langley out by Saratoga woods. Spotty coverage nearing Clinton, remains spotty until you get off the ferry in Mukilteo. Switching to Cingular now, so will report back after a few months with them.

In my opinion, T-Mobile is the best cell company around! We had ATT at one time and it wouldn't even work at our house which is located in Oak Harbor. Both phones lose coverage at Deception Pass, but other than that, coverage is excellant - even going down (south) the island. Coverage is nill if you are going east on the North Cascade Highway- we lose coverage around Lyman. I have taken both phones south to Portland and east to the Tri-Cities (Pasco, Richland and Kennewick) and other than on top of the passes, coverage has always been great.
