I live in Port Angeles and originally bought my phone for the Quilcene Area. I choose ATT because they had the best coverage area. I rarely drop on 101 and have never dropped in the populated areas. Concerning the Verizon comment about the poor coverage recently, I may have an answer. When I bought my phone 2 years ago, I switched from Verizon because I found out they were getting ready to stop using some of their cell phone towers. There were the towers that had analog capability. The reason services like ATT, Nextel, Sprint etc have such good coverage in the rural areas is because they most likely still use Analog signals in addition to the newer digital signals everyone else is using now. Hope that helps. I found this out from an employee at a cell phone kiosk.

Forget Nextel for Port Angeles. Sprint bought Tellus in CAnada and they serve (if you can use the term while smiliing!) Port Angeles from the hills north of Victoria BC... 29 miles away acroos the straits of Juan de Fuca... .for get off Hwy. 101 and for the most part between PA and Sequim.

No reception whatever until 3 miles closer to downtown PA. Occasionally get covered by Rogers Wireless out of Victoria with roaming charges so we have to keep the phones off until within range and ALWAYS check the coverage before calling.

I had better reception with my previous phone. Often up to 4 bars. Now I'm lucky to get 2 for a few minutes. But today- phone barely works and no data. Heavy fog- maybe thats it?

Poor and getting worse. High cost for phones and broadband with poor performance on Verizon's tower coverage and signal strength.

I have Verizon and have very little trouble with it all over Clallam and Jefferson county. I was surprised to read a lot of people were. The trouble I do have are the usual dead spots unique to the two counties, not the particular cell phone service.

Verison a HUGE disappointment in this area - can receive calls from outisde local areas, but each spoken sentence is broken up 5 times IN EACH SENTENCE! extremely frustrating; do not recommend Verizon for outside city limits, and can't wait to get rid of this carrier. **Learn from my expensive mistake!**

We had fair reception when we switched to Verizon 4 to 5 years ago but they apparently aimed the tower in a different direction and so we have had no reception for the last several years. When our contract is up we are switching as all Verizon will do is tell us we are in a poor reception area and they have no plans to do anything about it. On Hwy. 101 1 / 2 mile to the north of us there is good reception.

reception drops 5 miles west of Joyce and doesn't come back until 2 miles east of Neah Bay. Verizon and ATT both assured me that coverage was good all along the strait of Juan de Fuca. ATT drops 5 miles west of Joyce and never picks back up.
