I'm in McCormick Woods and the AT&T reception through my employer-sponsored cell phone is horrendous. Sometimes 1 bar is available, and most of the time the signal is lost if I try to dial out. Frustrating. It appears, from the comments, that Sprint might actually have edge among the providers, though it's not exactly stellar either.

Usually can't make calls or receive them, or make or receive texts. And according to the Live Chat rep, most of the Port Orchard area towers are down and will be until December 14th. According to this map, there ARE no Port Orchard area AT&T towers! Gig Harbor and Bremerton ARE NOT PORT ORCHARD! He also said my DIL has reception with Verizon because they don't use SIM cards. Untrue - she has one in her phone. They are trying to use any excuse for poor service. I am demanding a refund.

# of bars varies from 0 to 3, but 95% of the time we have horrid reception and call quality regardless of how many bars we have. It is not my phone as it works fine when I am in the Tacoma / Puyallup or other areas besides home. Despite continued complaints, AT&T would not do ANYTHING about our lack of coverage. After almost 2 years (funny how it is happening now that we are telling them we will NOT be renewing our contract), they finally gave us a one-time $50 credit on our bill. From what I've heard, most other carries have just as bad of coverage out here, so not sure what we will do next. Tin cans and string might work better.

Had the Blackberry Torch before and had great reception, decided to try the iphone and big mistake! Dont know if its the internal antenna or cell towers but I have no bars to 2 at most of the places I go in my area!

Reception rating changes daily. Some days perfect on other days - "No Phone Service" all the way from home to Mile Hill road (five miles from home). Come on guys, you make enough off of your customers to do better by us.

Verizon
In our home or about 300 ft out, the reception is poor. Sometimes in very good weather conditions we might have 2 bars. Sometimes with no bars we can still make or receive calls. But if we walk up to the road near our house or drive out about 500 ft reception improves dramatically. When you look at a coverage map, reception strength is average to good or better all around are area EXCEPT for where we built our house. I think AT&T would have better reception inside our house but I refuse to sign up with them. Verizon offers the best customer service of any cell phone company I've been with. There are a few towers encircling the town but we're in the unincorporated area with only one tower nearby. It's frustrating using the cell phone service because we never know when calls will go through or drop. However, we stay with Verizon because of the customer service. My other choice would be T-Mobile, but the coverage in my area would be even worse.

i get great service if I am in the backyard. but who wants to go outside n talk all the time. T-Mobile told me to get a wi fi enabled phone and that it would use my wireless router that I use for internet as a tower. I havent tried it yet but hopefully it works. I really love tmobile!

I can make calls one day, the next day from the same spot "Call Lost". I can "Retry Call" my entire drive to / from work off of California St, to NBK - Bangor. Verizon might have the best 3G network, but heaven forbid I NEED to use my cellphone in an emergency.

Verizon
1 to 0 bars. Can sometimes get through but hard to maintain a clear connection and get lots of dropped calls. Wife's newer Samsung phone gets 1 bar pretty consistently but is still problematical at times.

No reception from my house or little reception from the Albertson on Sedgwick or Fred Meyer on Bethel.

I get reception at one or two bars, antenna must be extended. I usually have to go near the door or window or step out on the deck. Should be improved

T-Mobile
Before I bought the phone I checked with a sales person to make sure I will get reception in my area. He assured me that I will because there is a tower on Sedgwick. I tried calling from my car while driving from Wava to Hwy. 3 and did not get reception anywhere.

I've been using T-Mobie for quite some time now and it sems the reception has goten worse over time. I'd switch to Verizon but they don't carry a sim card phone yet. Also I travel alot and T-Mobile is great for using overseas.

Sprint
Sprint seems to have improved and the dropped calls have gone away, although there are many areas of "roaming" Next works great. Why can' t Sprint and Nextel be made compatible?

1 bar on average. Sometimes 2, and more often that desirable 0. Lots of dropped calls. Key is to once you get a place with 2 bars, don't move. Don't even switch ears. Have experienced 50% dropped calls.

Verizon
The up and down topography of Mullenix Rd.almost insures your calls will be dropped as you travel either east or west.

Unlike some comments mentioned I had Verizon and had to switch to Cingular because Verizon doesn't work in this entire area. It worked fine in downtown Port Orchard. I thought it was the phone but when I had Verizon run a test they said" They couldn't hear me now" on my property. They allowed me to back-out of my contract. I haven't had a problem with Cingular anywhere.

Verizon
Verizon is the only cell phone service that we have found to work in the rural areas of Kitsap County. We get 1 or 2 bars in the house in a couple of spots, otherwise, we go outside to make cell phone calls. I also have a T-Mobile phone thru my work--I can use it at the office (Bay St.in Downtown Port Orchard) but it's completely useless elsewhere.

T-Mobile
Post TMobile adding new towers in the area my service went from so-so to excellent in all areas of rural kitsap county. Currently upgrading to a v330 as my v300 just went through the washer.

Great reception, reportedly Verizon has the best coverage in Kitsap County.

Nextel
My new Nextel phone i265 now give me 5 full bars while inside my house. Others have Verizon which gets 1-3 bars inside house and Sprint gets 0-2 bars inside house. Nextel give even strong coverage in downtown Seattle, while Verizon is weak coverage, drop calls alot, especially in U-District. Sprint was poor service all throughout downtown Seattle, with building blocking signal. Maybe Sprint Nextel merger will increase better signal and share towers. My walkie talkie (Direct Connect) works fine where ever I go.

Zero reception in rural South Kitsap with T-Mobile. Once in a great while, I'm able to recieve a text message, otherwise, it's 'No Network', no bars, no nothing! I have to check my v-mail from the land line. Needless to say, I'm shopping around.

Verizon
Even though Verizon has a major cell site at Fauntleroy Way and California in West Seattle, it seems there is an on going problem with dropped calls. I have called several times and they claim it is a "bad" switch for that zone. Hmmm... that was some time ago. Beware, Verizon is very touchy in West Seattle near Lincoln Park.
