I hate hate hate AT&T. I frequently get the fast busy tone, despite have high signal strength, and my calls are dropped all the time. Customer service has been terrible, and despite my trying to be kind (it's not the operator's fault, after all), they've bordered on indignant with me.
I'm switching to Verizon.

This phone has recieved superbly at this location for the past two years. This fall however, no change in bars but all calls in or out are gone the phone just tries in vain to redial. Thanks ATT / Cingular.

Reception was fine here two years ago, but degraded all of a sudden (both my phone and my girlfriend's, same model,
had the same reception issue. Can't receive incoming calls, calls "drop" (but AT&T WS doesn't credit them as drops), and text messages / vmail delayed. Friend of friend says this is due to AT&T degrading service on TDMA to encourage customers to switch to GSM.

I don't know if my reception problem is due to the Motorola V60 or AT&T Wireless, but I cannot get reception at or near home. As you move west toward MLK, the reception improves to 4 bars. But anywhere at the top of Madrona on down to the Lake Washington is bad.

I have tried both GSM and the old digital systems. GSM has absolutely NO bars and does not show a carrier. The digital system is poor at best and is functionally unuseable. The phone will not ring, yet it will beep that I have a message. When I attempt to collect my voice message, I am unable to get enough reception to make that call. The phone is constantly dropping calls all along the west side of I-5 as well.

Although I get some amount of reception, the phone frequently features "emergency calls only" preventing me from even attempting another type of call. Although the reception in my apartment is poor, I have only received dropped calls sparingly. I have to trick the phone by beating it to the "emergency calls only" screen when I first turn it on in order to make a call on my entire block - in the U DIstrict.

Absolutely no reception inside my apartment. Cannot make nor receive calls. Out on the street, the signal is slightly improved and the phone is usable, though it fades in and out and often drops calls.

Terrible coverage east of 15th St all the way to Madison. I could barely make a call on East John but it may be due to the overhead electric lines for the buses or the large antenna towers on Capital Hill. The Arboretum has such a consistent deadspot that I purposefully avoid making phone calls if I'm near there.
