I go inside and the phone dies, outside it works sometimes. I have had so many calls drop in this area it makes me crazy. Even with the walkie talkie feature, it fails. I have been searching for a new phone and new carrier if necessary just to know my phone will work in this area. But I am not at all confident in any of them after reading reviews here. I have two colleagues whose phones both seem to work fine in this area (same spots where mine goes out): T-mobile and AT&T, so I am looking at making the switch to one of those.

No reception at all. Seems kind of ridiculous living in the center of Seattle. Cingular gets reception here and I am switching to that network. No reception on T-Mobile here either.

I have tried both GSM and the old digital systems. GSM has absolutely NO bars and does not show a carrier. The digital system is poor at best and is functionally unuseable. The phone will not ring, yet it will beep that I have a message. When I attempt to collect my voice message, I am unable to get enough reception to make that call. The phone is constantly dropping calls all along the west side of I-5 as well.

2-3 bars in second story apartment in the Capitol Hill near Mercer and Malden. Some call dropping. This is a tough area due to hills and lots of apartment buildings.

Usually get one or 2 bars on Queen Anne. Sometimes phones fails to ring and I just get messages later. 70% of calls are clear 10% almost impossible to hear, and the rest in between. Happy with Verizon service and service is stronger in many parts of Seattle.

Indoor in my apartment I can eek out one bar. Any call will usually drop. Outdoors is pretty reliable but I would like to use just my mobile as my main phone.

Although I get some amount of reception, the phone frequently features "emergency calls only" preventing me from even attempting another type of call. Although the reception in my apartment is poor, I have only received dropped calls sparingly. I have to trick the phone by beating it to the "emergency calls only" screen when I first turn it on in order to make a call on my entire block - in the U DIstrict.

With AT&T GSM, I could never get reception in my apartment in Capitol Hill. I switched the phone over to TDMA (Siemens S46 is a dual-band phone, so it can use both GSM and TDMA), and can get some reception. Regardless, I am looking for a new carrier.

Sand Point is pretty much a dead spot. I wrap up my calls as soon as I get on this street and it doesn't get much better even when I'm standing still in my condo. My fiance is on AT&T and she gets slightly better reception, but still not "good." T-mobile is supposedly putting in a new tower right next to the 60th street bakery, so hopefully it'll get better soon.

I'm always dropping calls through the Arboretum. All my friends with other carriers and phones have the same issue, so I guess there just aren't any antennas close to that area.

Excellent reception anywhere in Seattle. My old AT&T service (TDMA Nokia 8260 and GSM Motorola T721) was terrible, but I have outstanding service with Cingular!

Absolutely no reception inside my apartment. Cannot make nor receive calls. Out on the street, the signal is slightly improved and the phone is usable, though it fades in and out and often drops calls.

I get great reception if I'm outside, or hanging out a window. But I can't get a connection at all from inside my office (Sand Point) or inside hotels on business trips. Inside my apartment and places like malls, the connection is quite poor -- lots of static, lots of dropped and missed calls.
Verizon claimed it was my phone causing the problems, and they did replace it for me, but my reception only improved marginally. My old cheap-end Nokia did fine in these same locations, under AT&T.

Terrible coverage east of 15th St all the way to Madison. I could barely make a call on East John but it may be due to the overhead electric lines for the buses or the large antenna towers on Capital Hill. The Arboretum has such a consistent deadspot that I purposefully avoid making phone calls if I'm near there.
