Cingular stinks on the Plateau. Could not switch as corporate plan. Had 2 bars when was AT&T, than progressively got worse. Switched to Cingular network GST phone, a little better when off the plateau, but worse in Sammamish. My wife has T-Mobile and 3-4 bars, perfect coverage, no drops. Don't even get me started on the # of drops with Cingular or "network busy". Bottom line, Cingular is awful in Sammamish, T-Mobile rocks! Now carry two phones -personal one (t-mobile) that works, and business phone (cingular) to piss customers off.

On a good day I may get one that stays for a while or two, albeit momentarily. Even if I go and stand outside away from the powerlines, I usually drop a call within 10 minutes. ARGH!

Always have and always have had good reception. A lot of times it's the phone you buy that will have crappy reception. My buddy bought a Sidekick 3, worst reception ever from T-Mobile that i've seen, then he replaced it with a Blackberry 8100 Pearl and is back to good reception (there's really no such thing as perfect reception).I've had 3 different motorolla's which sucked as far as phone quality, but they all had good reception. I've also had 2 Sony Ericsson's (W800i, P910a) and they do very good as well.

When the sun is out, forget about using a cell phone. The signal strength map provided by T mobile needs to be corrected for this location. The number of times a call is dropped or breaks up or the 'No Service' message that pops is a bit aggrevating! So if you're moving to Ballard anywhere close to the water, test your cell phone indoors where you will be living when the sun is out before signing the agreement. I wish I did...

I switched over since the place I'm moving to in the east coast is flooded with Nextel coverage. Previously I had Nokia 3120 which worked well and though my contract was already up, I wanted to test and see how Nextel worked out here. With all the bad reviews I was hesitant but the more I read, the more convinced that it won't be so bad. I got the phone yesterday and the reception is SOLID. I think there's a trade off with Nextel's known battery life vs. the amount of power / output it has. The signal is very clear and I have yet to have any dropped calls whereas with Cingular it would drop randomly at least once a day.
