I'm on the north slope of the hill that runs up toward Happy Valley. Cell service is rarely bad here - I think there's been one tower outage nearby in about 5 years.

The network extenders I have in my home improve their service by about 25%. Gone from over 100 dropped calls a month to about 25 -28. Even the new 3 -g extender has to be forced to connect with the phone... #22804 hang-up then call #48, to force connection with the Network extender. Verizon is much more concerned with densely populated area than any rural area... .. It's called the bottom line. They toss the bones out only so they can say hey have service in the area... .. Service means being able to make or receive an occasional phone call and having a intermittent digital connection. All I can say is I am glad I did not pay for the network extenders they have sent me... ... I would be even more dissatisfied. Don't pay for them.

We live in the Gardiner area, appr a mile east of Wild Birds Unlimited between Port Townsend and Sequim. We used to have great service with Verizon but they did something with their tower, redirected the signal or something and our service is absolutely AWFUL! Almost every call drops and we have a hard time completing any calls. We have contacted Verizon numerous times regaridng this problem and quite frankly they don't seem to give a"hoot". In fact they can't even seem to locate us correctly and when they do a trouble ticket they always get the wrong address. When I call them about it they never call me back. Very Poor customer service, just don't seem too care. There are a lot of people living in the Gardiner-Diamond Point area, why don't they try to improve their service out here? I've been told it will be 2013 before the 4G service will be available to all areas like Gardiner. We think Verizon is just letting their service deteriorate something terrible. We would NEVER recommend Verizon.

Decent coverage but I do get dropped calls at the Clallam Co. / Jefferson County line right at Diamond Pt. and Hwy. 101. I also drop calls going around Morse Creek. Other than that I've had good luck with Verizon. I'm looking at the iPhone and of course would have to switch to AT&T / Cingular... snyone have any other info re the Sequim area???

The whole area of Dungeness Heights has horrible reception if any. It doesn't matter which carrier. It doesn't matter how good your phone. I drove around the neighborhood and asked several people and they all said it has nearly zero reception. I just bought a brand new Motorola V710 which has a reputation for good reception. I can dial out and get a connection but the person on the other end can't hear me, only static.

I previously wrote a review of T-Mobile's coverage in the Port Angeles and Sequim area. Here is another one vouching for Verizon. Living in a small rural town, all cell phone carriers have to overcome the difficulties imposed by the varied terrain and the various places in which people live (woods, beaches, hills, etc.) Fortunately, when Verizon became a major entity, combining the forces of the market's cellular aggregates, it was able to expand and improve it's networks. Consequently, when it enhanced Sequim's coverage area, it strategically placed towers in difficult to reach locations. For example, Verizon placed a tower right downtown in the old Mill, the tallest landmark in Sequim, by El Cazador. With other smart choices of cellular location, Verizon's coverage is very good around here, including Gardiner, Blyn, Diamond Point, beyond Port Angeles (even beyond the Kalaloch area), along the coast, and of course, in some of the mountainous / hilly locations. However, the Dungeness area and the Sunland area still pose a problem, so the reception is weak or sometimes mediocre. My parents both have Verizon, and there has never been a place that he's encountered where he was unable to place calls due to coverage limitations. And with regard to roaming onto Canada's Telus network on CDMA, Verizon has a "home only" option that eliminates that problem. But, if you want to travel in Canada and have a plan that accomodates it, or want to incur roaming charges, you can always use your phone there too!
