Sprints service in Tacoma is HORRIBLE! my reception keeps cutting in and out all day long, dropped calls, failed text sending, and as for data... the 3g is slower than dial up if you can actually get your phone to remain connected to the 3G network for more than a minute at a time. What good is unlimited service if you can not use the service. Looking at the coverage map Sprint does not have a single tower in Tacoma proper, the closest being in university place... What's up with that Sprint!?! Tacoma is a fairly good sized city... why no towers??? If I shut the phone off and back on it connects to one of the competitors towers and flies but within a minute it switches back to Sprint and the bars drop to 0 to 2 max with sporadic 3g.

If you walk around outside you may get a bar if your lucky. Most of the time it is nust the no service symbol. Other than that, I get great reception all over Washington except where I live... figures

Use to have AT and T had to hang out of my bedroom window. Have had Virgin for several years, always perfect inside and out. Never a reception problem as a matter of fact forgot about reception issues until came across this site. I does drop if driving I-5 past Boeing Airport, but other than that I'd give it 5 stars.

I can't tell how the coverage is because the Samsung phone they sold me is a piece of garbage. Not sure if it is the phone, Verizon or a combination. I returned it but the new one is the same. Volume keeps changing and sound is so chopped up I can rarely understand people. My son listened and said it was the worse phone he has heard but says his signal on his phone is also choppy. Happens even when there are 5 bars. People seem to be able to hear me ok. I know it's not an expensive phone but I only need to make and receive calls. I never had these problems when I was with QWest other than an occasional drop.

As is becoming an old *saw* it always gets reception except where you need it. Supposed to be a 3g webconnect laptop usb stick, but can't get any better than *edge* (2g or dial up speeds) with 1 or two bars on the veteran's hospital compound (where I need it). Drove around Lakewood for a while with it on for a rough idea of the coverage, and it is just garbage. Could get spotty 3g coverage of 1 or 2 bars on some places, but half a block later it wants to drop back to edge or 2g coverage. I know customer service isn't really a factor here, but I have had nothing but poor experiences with them as well, the card I recieved was not the one I ordered, the plan they put me on was not the one I signed up for, and took work and being on hold for nearly an hour to sort and took 2 weeks to get everythign right, and then I end up with this sort of coverage. Avoid T-Mobile in Tacoma / Lakewood.

I've used T-Mobile all over the country and never had dropped calls. After a month in Tacoma, I'm about to buy out my contract. I drop 4-5 calls a day in my house; 1-2 more around the city.

One bar, dropped calls. Really Bad. Sprint works really well so I force Verizon to roam on Sprint, since I have free roaming.

No reception in my home. My old Sprint phone (used in same home) got strong signal, good sound, no dropped calls (had phone for 5 years). Recently upgraded to Sprint Sanyo 3100 and now have miserable service in my home. Phone is only two months old, but I was told I needed to update phone with preferred roaming list, which I had done. Was also told I needed an adjustment to boost signal strength-got that done. Have been in to Sprint store numerous times regarding this issue. Sorry I signed up for another 2-year contract. Was told my phone is "fine" (also online reviews for this model phone are good). Did a tower fall down in my area?

Cingular must have put more towers up because I consistantly get 4-6 bars in my house now. I used to have to lean over my desk to talk and even that was iffy. Once in awhile, I'll be in a dead spot and get static, but it's much better now than in the past. Service is good when I am out and about too. I just upgraded to an LG CG225 and hope the coverage is as good.

Works good outside or inside if my head is next to a window. Lots of cutting out and dropped calls inside. Going with some one else. I had Verizon but their Bluetooth implementation is immasculated. It did work in my house though.

At UP Primary school there is no reception in the buildings and poor reception on the upper soccer field. Likewise there is extremely poor reception anywhere on the Curtis Junior High or High School campuses along 40th west of Bridgeport. Both problems are related to a hill shadow in western University Place and is very frustrating for parents such as myself. Elsewhere, my Verizon reception is excellent anywhere in the greater Tacoma area.
