I can't tell how the coverage is because the Samsung phone they sold me is a piece of garbage. Not sure if it is the phone, Verizon or a combination. I returned it but the new one is the same. Volume keeps changing and sound is so chopped up I can rarely understand people. My son listened and said it was the worse phone he has heard but says his signal on his phone is also choppy. Happens even when there are 5 bars. People seem to be able to hear me ok. I know it's not an expensive phone but I only need to make and receive calls. I never had these problems when I was with QWest other than an occasional drop.

3-5 bars most everywhere I have been in Pierce County. I do have issues in Mason county..which Verizon shows on there website as having good coverage... but its spotty at best.

One bar, dropped calls. Really Bad. Sprint works really well so I force Verizon to roam on Sprint, since I have free roaming.

Verizon is the worst that I've had yet... ..I'm going to demand that they let me out of my contract. Why should I go outside of my house to make a call?

Poor reception; many dropped calls in Northeast Tacoma. Multiple complaints to Verizon seem to fall on deaf ears.

At UP Primary school there is no reception in the buildings and poor reception on the upper soccer field. Likewise there is extremely poor reception anywhere on the Curtis Junior High or High School campuses along 40th west of Bridgeport. Both problems are related to a hill shadow in western University Place and is very frustrating for parents such as myself. Elsewhere, my Verizon reception is excellent anywhere in the greater Tacoma area.

O.K. reception up on Bridgeport, but down the slope to Grandview in the "cell shadow" there is no reception indoors, maybe 1 bar outside the apt.

It's the darndest thing-after one year of perfect service with very few dropped calls, for the past 3 weeks I am unable to have a decent conversation for more than 30 seconds from my apt and from an area of 2 mile radius where I live without the call being lost. The tech guys couldn't find a thing wrong with the service. Getting a new phone didn't help either. I am miserable!

Great Sprint service, my work phone. Verizon drops calls all the time switiches from one bar to none then to extended network, if I could force it to use Sprint towers then it would be great, or just put an antenna on the police tower.

I drive into my Parking lot and it dies right there and give it up in my Apt.it goes to one or no service, I use the regular phone for backup it is more reliable.

1 bar at best. Lots of dropped calls. Cingular is no better. Need more towers but we're off the beaten track.

I get terrible reception in N.E. Tacoma. I can go to Federal Way at the Twin Lakes Shopping Center and get very strong reception [5 bars].

one or two bars to none sometimes. This phone has been the best but works only if you stand in the right spot and sometimes not then. I am told it is a known problem with no short term fix.

Verizon service is minimal at best in all of Northeast Tacoma. It disappears entirely in the upstairs of my house and at a number of other places. Don't be in the middle of a conversation while driving down NorPoint Way to Marine View Dr.as your call will drop about mid way. Verizon's customer service is very poor and will bounce you back and forth between the store and phone service.

I travel the entire Pierce County area on a dailey basis calling on clients and have never had a call drop or reached a dead area. !00% reliability. I don't know why there are different results with some of the other comments I have read. Could it be the type of phone being used? Totally satisfied.

I get 2-4 bars sitting here in front of the computer. There is a forest behind my house.

Contrary to most of the reviews of Verizon Wireless, I get great reception in Tacoma; 3-5 bars, mostly. I am frequently in and out of the surrounding areas (Lakewood, Steilacoom, Fircrest, Puyallup) and the great service remains. Even when on the shores of the Pacific Ocean I get service! My only complaint is the lack thereof in Fort Lewis and McChord. The reception in this area seems very dependent on the model of the phone. While I do not get service, my mother (with a Kyocera Slider) has no problems. Tip: I found the reception increased after updating my roaming capabilities by dialing *228 on my cellphone. No questions to answer, no words needed to be said. Just a few seconds of elevator music and boom! My roaming capabilites were updated, reception improved and NO ROAMING WHATSOEVER! fantastic...

Service indoors is awful to non-existant. Service outdoors is tolerable to awful. Verizon coverage in Tacoma seems like swiss cheese.

Terrible reception! Calls dropped quite frequently in this area.

Very inconsistant coverage, phone shows three bars then drops to no service, then to analog, (drains my battery). The "Can you hear me now?" guy has never been here.

Reception is very poor. Phone contantly changes services and often loses signal completely. Cannot complete a phone call without disconnection because of reception loss.
