I travel the entire Pierce County area on a dailey basis calling on clients and have never had a call drop or reached a dead area. !00% reliability. I don't know why there are different results with some of the other comments I have read. Could it be the type of phone being used? Totally satisfied.

I have had AT&T TDMA, Sprint, and AT&T GSM... I now have Nextel for the nice Direct Connect Feature Nationwide to able to stay in communication with my wife as well as the home office. Direct Connect is unlimited and free, so you waste no cell minutes. The coverage is incredible for both walkie talkie and cellular. I couldn't be happier. Nextel has a slogan of which I fully agree with. Done.

I've used T-Mobile all over the country and never had dropped calls. After a month in Tacoma, I'm about to buy out my contract. I drop 4-5 calls a day in my house; 1-2 more around the city.

No reception in my home. My old Sprint phone (used in same home) got strong signal, good sound, no dropped calls (had phone for 5 years). Recently upgraded to Sprint Sanyo 3100 and now have miserable service in my home. Phone is only two months old, but I was told I needed to update phone with preferred roaming list, which I had done. Was also told I needed an adjustment to boost signal strength-got that done. Have been in to Sprint store numerous times regarding this issue. Sorry I signed up for another 2-year contract. Was told my phone is "fine" (also online reviews for this model phone are good). Did a tower fall down in my area?

Sprints service in Tacoma is HORRIBLE! my reception keeps cutting in and out all day long, dropped calls, failed text sending, and as for data... the 3g is slower than dial up if you can actually get your phone to remain connected to the 3G network for more than a minute at a time. What good is unlimited service if you can not use the service. Looking at the coverage map Sprint does not have a single tower in Tacoma proper, the closest being in university place... What's up with that Sprint!?! Tacoma is a fairly good sized city... why no towers??? If I shut the phone off and back on it connects to one of the competitors towers and flies but within a minute it switches back to Sprint and the bars drop to 0 to 2 max with sporadic 3g.

Great reception! Great Customer Service! I get calls in buildings that others have to exit in order to get reception.

Verizon is the worst that I've had yet... ..I'm going to demand that they let me out of my contract. Why should I go outside of my house to make a call?

Okay, I am giving a "composite" for reception since like most people I am not in one place all the time. Here's what I'm hatin' about T-Mobile: as pointed out it tend to flip from full reception to no reception, lately it cuts out big time on the I5 Tacoma to Seattle route, Fed Way are is really bad, North Tacoma went from horrible to spotty, and slow data services. My contract is coming-up and I am looking around.

The Pt. Defiance area competes with Vashon cell towers. Reception is terrible.
