Only one to two bars, but the signal is consistent. Phone calls can be made with one bar at this location.

One to two bars consistently just south of Amery, increases to three to four bars in Amery town. Many non digital areas. High spots are best.

I have had Alltel (cellular 2000 in the early days) since 1993. Have had alot of friends with other carriers, and many arguements about coverage. Alltel always wins in the woods of Northern Wisconsin. I am a firefighter and EMT, and rely on my phone when our radios don't work. Alltel has never failed me in this area all the way to the U.P of Michigan!

As others have said, Alltel seems to be the ticket in NW Wisconsin. Verizon roams off Alltel towers so if you have free roaming, Verizon may be a good choice. T-Mobile put a tower in Wanderoos in Jan. 07. Evidently, they want to cover Lake Wapogassett better (a lot of city folks come up on weekends). In general, non-Alltel providers do an OK job of covering the major North / South and East / West corridors in NW WI. However, once you get off the main roads, their coverage degrades quickly. Between Star Prairie and Polk Co. K you'll get spotty coverage regardless of the provider. I travel quite a bit for work and have (with Alltel) as good, or better service as others I'm travelling with that do not use Alletel. I have no compelling reason to switch my Alltel service.
