I had excellent coverage with Alltel using a Motorla Q smartphone for both internet and phone calls. When Verizon took over Alltel in the fall of 2009 the service for internet dropped to dial up speed if not slower. Verizon will not explain why this happened even though they stressed in mail and email correspondence nothing would change. That is a flat out LIE! They want you to switch their Verizon packages which are more expensive and limited in internet access. I want Alltel back, that is why I went with them in the first place. Also, the customer service at VERIZON is poor, at best. They will transfer you around on their phone chain and reqeusts to speak to a manager results in being conveniently disconnected.

Varies between 0 and 2. While we've been very happy with Verizon (formerly PrimeCo) for 10 years, especially with urban and national service (we travel for work quite a bit) and customer relations, the coverage in rural areas is marginal at best. Coverage has improved at Cornell Lake over the past 10 years (used to be either no coverage or analog roam), however, we still have huge problems connecting and losing calls, and because of a recent customer service issue (a Verizon rep promised me a discounted business rate that the company later backed out on) we are now looking to change service, preferably to a service who can offer better rural coverage.

I get great reception in town, but its really patchy out in the country toward Colfax.

Works well in all of the city.
