Recently took a trip up to Lake Namekagon with some family. I had two bars pretty much all around the area and I could place calls and hear fine. Out on the lake I got three bars and sound quality was excellent. The others had Sprint or US Cellular and were frustrated to see NO SERVICE, while I had 2-3 bars in this remote area.

I can't get any hookup until I get into Hayward, further south down hiway 63. Even then it is only 2 bars. Very inconvenient. A buddy with Verizon gets spotty reception and tons of dropped calls. I am going to install an antenna amplifier just for this area. We will see if it helps.

I used a CDMA Tracfone on the Verizon system. I got excellent coverage in Cable. It became spotty as I approached Lake Namakagon. The Verizon phone is the only one of my four phones which did not have to go into the roam mode. I had Sprint, AT&T and T-Mobile as additional phones for this experiment. My Sprint phone roamed onto the Verizon network. The AT&T and T-Mobile phones were useless. July 2011
