T-Mobile has 3G in Eau Claire! Just got on today while on Clairemont. This is awesome! Otherwise, T-Mobile has great coverage in the area and are affiliates of AT&T so I have signal pretty much everywhere... actually can think of the last time was in the area and had "no service"
Alltel works great. I used to live in Trego... north of Spooner and this phone worked great between Trego and Hayward... also all the way down Hwy. 53 to Eau Claire. Works great in California, Florida, Minnesota, North Dakota, Montana, and Arizona. Now that I live in Eau Claire the only dead spots I find are near Melby Rd. / Hwy 53 and Birch St. / Hastings intersections. I was on vacation in July and my phone worked in the Mooquah Barrens area, north of Ino, WI. on a bicycle trip when my friends phones wouldn't! I am thinking about getting a new phone but am afraid to give this one up because it works so well. Any recommendations? Mark L. Eau Claire, WI p.s. I was told that this phone has more power than the new phones due to a FCC restriction on power.
eau claire up to superior, WI - AT&T took over cellular one so I guess I'm commenting on both. totally Dead spot on the north crossing by the bypass, it will drop your calls. also, I used to get good reception with cellular one but now I don't get reception hardly anywhere. they really went down hill fast. everyone I know is switching. thank god it only costs twenty dollars to get out of this contract. Its like paying for nothing. you can't even use your phone. horrible.
I had CellularOne for a long time, but since I switched over to Alltel I can't believe that I didn't have it before. Even when I leave the area to travel I still get good service. Especially when I go up north.
My reception used to be a bit patchy, but since I got this phone, the only calls that get dropped come from my friends' lines. There are only two rough spots in Eau Claire for me: My friend's basement off of Golf Rd. and by North High School. I have been very pleased with CellOne's service and expansion... but it didn't help me out while I was in college in the cities.
cellone has no GSM service form the eau claire side of the big hill to Eleva, Strum, Mondovi, Pleasentvill, Elk Creek, Independence, Whitehall. None. Before GSM we could get out. This service is junk. Altel you can get out at any of these areas. I will be switching as three of my friends did already. Why pay for service you cant get. I have called cell one to no avail. 14 months on the contract yet. BOO

I've just got a Samsung a900 with new activation. Bad reception and drop calls! The store suggested, I switch to a sanyo 8400 for better reception. No drop calls yet, but the reception still bothers me, because the bars drop down to 1 sometime. Also, the clarity on this phone was terrible, I could not understand the other person at all! The store suggest I switch to sanyo m1. I'm thinking about switching to a new carrier! My daughter was here visiting me the other day and her Alltel phone was loud and clear, no reception problem at all! What should I do, try the sanyo m1 or switch carrier? Friends and families have sprint.
