Alltel has the best reception of all the providers I have seen in the northwest and westcentral wisconsin area. Cell one has good spots but if you get outside the city you start to run into trouble. Alltel is much better outside the city as well as slightly better in the city.

I've just got a Samsung a900 with new activation. Bad reception and drop calls! The store suggested, I switch to a sanyo 8400 for better reception. No drop calls yet, but the reception still bothers me, because the bars drop down to 1 sometime. Also, the clarity on this phone was terrible, I could not understand the other person at all! The store suggest I switch to sanyo m1. I'm thinking about switching to a new carrier! My daughter was here visiting me the other day and her Alltel phone was loud and clear, no reception problem at all! What should I do, try the sanyo m1 or switch carrier? Friends and families have sprint.

[Nationwide Plan] While reception is generally good, calls are often dropped prior to connection (Roughly 10-15% of the time). Once connected, in-call drops are rare. Not verizon's service area proper so you are on partner networks, mostly Alltel's (85% of the time).

Reception was okay, but the phone said Roam and Voice mails would often not show up for a while. Avoid for Eau Claire area. (Not really their service area)

Great reception all over Eau Claire and most of WI (maybe 6 dead zones on Hwy 94 from MN to Milwaukee).

In the Third Ward, my calls are almost always sent to voice mail when I'm in the house. I can get a little reception outside my house, but calls are dropped over and over.

This system is continually looking for towers. In our home on the edge of Eau Claire the phone will loose it's signal while using it. The phone has been updated, new battery and brought into the Sprint Store on Golf Near the Mall to get a computer update by plugging it in. Guess what it is worse. Sprint here locally will not let us out of our contract until it expired. If we had any updates or changes we had to sign a two year contract. I found out from Sprint offical offices in Cal. That this two year contract signing, is an individual franchise decision. If you need something done look for Sprint Offices in Cal. And look for CEO or the Official Sprint board of Commissioners. And email your complaints to them and things will change. Be specific in your information. Also this phone will loose any reception as soon as you get off of the Main Interstates. On an average There are only one to two bars. Look elsewhere.
