This comment is really about cell phone reception in Madison in general. My husband and I lived there for several years, we have also intermittently lived at other parts of the country but drive back to Madison regularly so we have experience with reception at many points in a radius of about 1000 miles around Madison. We currently have three different phones with three different phone companies: AT&T, Verizon, and US Cellular. No matter which phone, no matter which service we use, the reception in Madison is worse than anywhere else. Today my husband drove from Oklahoma to Madison and called me at about 2-hour intervals along the way. No dropped calls UNTIL a few hours ago, when he arrived in Madison. My husband called back to say, "Wouldn't you know it--I'm in Middleton. Why does Madison have such horrible reception?" So, out of curiosity, I decided to check the web and find out, but rationally enough, everyone seems to think that their problems are caused by the carrier. Not true, it's just Madison, but I still don't know why.

Horrible reception all over town, even though phone displays a full signal (And it's not the phone; our entire family has issues). No 3G service either until 2009. Cingular was a lot better pre-AT&T, but now it's a horrible carrier. Stay far, far away.

We have had American Celluar and Sprint over the years and find Sprint to have better reception in Madison and across the Country with exception of California. We share our time with Texas. Sprint provided us with a booster for our Middleton location which has improved the signal strangth and reception dramatically. Get few dropped cals from our Tx and Wis homes now.

Major dead spot on Century Avenue in Middleton between Hwy Q and Allen Blvd.; half the time my calls get dropped, or I at least have to repeat myself or ask the other person to repeat themselves. I also lose service in the hills near Roxbury (between Middleton & Sauk City) - it's only about 15 miles from Madison, yet I get ZERO service. I used to live off Old Settler's Road in the Town of Berry & got ZERO service at my house there... only 17 miles from Madison. North of Wausau, WI, forget trying to use US Cellular service... there is none. Dead until you get to Ashland or Superior - then you may get two bars.
