Alltel by far has the best coverage in Northern Wisconsin. They don't have any native coverage in the Wausau area, but roam well on Cellcom and Sprint towers. GSM coverage needs a lot work north of Wausau.

CellularOne has been very good in this area in the TMDA market. The only problem I've had is with the Motorola V120t, it's not worth a penny. And if they try to give it to you for free, run! Terrible reception with that phone, dropped calls, everything in the book. The Nokia 6360 is well worth the money, has an internal antenna, and gets great reception.

The Motorola V400 phone overall is not working good with Cellular One's new GSM. People complain it's static. Overall tower pick up is good but GPRS data trasfers for internet is still shakey since its a new feature to Cellular One, give it a lil time and it will become better im sure.
