AT&T worked great in these areas, but Alltel gets no reception, except that I can receive occasional texts. Need a tower between hwy 70 east and Manitowish Waters. Tried numerous phones. Guess I might have to go back to AT&T and deal with there terrible customer service.

reception is very poor in this area with alltel, 0 to 1 bar on the highway and side roads, but, with Cellular One, reception is excellent 4 to 5 / 5 bars on Hwy. 47. I switched To Cellular One.

It used to be in Ace Hardware you got no service at all. Now Cellular One has made it so you have terrific service in Ace Hardware. I get 5 / 5 bars most of the time and then once in a great while it will drop down to 4 bars. Service is greatly improved. In the Ace Dollar Depot (right next to Ace in the same building), I get great service in there also. the least my friends and I ever got was 3 bars. Most of the time it was 4 to 5 bars there. My friends and I call each other in the store all of the time now. My friends and I that have Cellular One are very thankful of the great service inside the Ace / Ace Dollar Depot Store.

Cellular One has some dead zones, on hwy 70 west, and between lake tomahawk to rhinelander, but I talked to Cellular One, and they said by the end of this year (2007), both of these spots will be exellent on signal. They are putting towers all along these areas. So if you need to boost your signal until then use an external antenna. But after 2007 the reception will be excellent in both of these areas. at my house on forest trail reception is excellent. 5 / 5 bars. there is a tower on hwy 47 that feeds off the signal. Signal is good on the way in town to Minocqua / Woodruff, to the town of Lake Tomahawk, also in Rhinelander the reception is excellent With Cellular One.

In my house in woodruff wi, I get 5 bars, but when I travel to hwy 70 west I get 0 to 1 bar, and cannot make a call, but when I hook up my external car antenna to my phone I get 4 bars in the hwy 70 west area, and I can make a perfect call. also in rhinelander and sugar camp I get 4 bars without the external antenna, so those of you who get poor service get an external antenna and it will boost your signal.
