Their are two towers just over 3 miles west of here on Rte 522 that used to be owned by First Communications (Alltel) When Verizon bought them they did not acquire those two towers. I have had no luck finding that out. I am at the end of my cell phone contract and looking to make an informed choice. US cellular has been better than the rest but still weak. Any suggestions on how to find out about those two orphan towers?

US 522 / Virginia Line To Maryland Line, Berkeley Springs, WV 25411 |
Wed Feb 15, 2006 |
Sprint PCS (Shentel) has added a couple of new towers in the area and the coverage has improved dramatically. You can now carry a call from Virginia to Maryland on this stretch. In fact, they (sprint pcs) is the only service that offers any reception that far south of Berkeley Springs Shentel has also added coverage, or is in the process, on route 9 east between Berkeley Springs and Hedgesville, Wv. The county is now covered very well with Spring PCS service.

T-Mobile told us we would have service in Berk. Spgs in approx. 2 weeks after the date of purchase. That never happened. No reception 1 / 4 mile past Md state line on 522 S. thru Berk. spgs. and until you get about 2 miles out of Winchester! Also lots of tiny pockets of dead spots on River Rd. I-70 has a few brief dead spots. I-81 is good.
