I have great reception, and I go everywhere from Boothsville to pine bluff and even Wyatt, and I usually have 4-5 bars. I love it! Heck, I even use my mobile web in Wyatt, and it loads pretty well.

I've never really had too much of a problem with AT&T service in my area. I even travel out into areas like Wyatt and Pine Bluff and beyond, and I almost always have 3-4 bars. I love it!

Very disheartening to have such poor reception after the excitement of purchasing the original iPhone. Their service reception maps said I would do just fine.

Well everyone I don't usually comment on these types of sites, but I thought I would convey some very helpful information. There is a company in Clarksburg, WV that sells Verizon (Nationwide Wireless), but they also sell an affiliate company. The other company they sell has Nationwide Coverage. It is No Contract, No Credit Check, and No Activation Fee. You get Unlimited Talk, Text, and Data for $50 a month that includes all taxes and fees! I'm not kidding! I bought a New Motorola Q9c for $75. It's too good to be true!

Got a BlackBerry Curve at NTELOS across the downtown bridge. Great coverage, service, and price. Definitely the best in the area. Only company with 3G internet as well.

I switched from US Cellular to Sprint when I moved to the DC area. When visiting Fairmont, I've always had good service, although it's weak in the rural areas where my parents lived. Sprint has good plans, with unlimited data, free roaming, and generous minutes, including free nights / weekends and free calls to any cellphone number (not just Sprint).

I've had Sprint for about a year. It has been the only carrier that I've had (so far) to get at least a little reception where ever I go. I get 2-3 bars on Prickett Creek Rd usually.. However, I do have quite a few dropped calls. (But I've had dropped calls a lot in other areas where I have full service, too.)

Most urban areas are well covered in WV, either natively or by roaming agreements. A very few locations have power vision, EVDO service (mostly limited to the Wheeling area), though roaming EVDO is available in Parkersburg and Charleston Metro areas (perhaps Huntington as well?)via Alltel; if your phone is capable. While most urban areas are well covered, the hilly terrain inevitably results in coverage holes, particularly in rural areas. Including my house, located near the colfax area. In this area, in particular, GSM coverage seems to be the best; with Sprint typically only getting 1-2 bars outside on a good day.

I have US Cellular and inside of town I do fine, outside of town, it is very spotty. Its horrible overall. I am buying out of my contract with this provider. I am paying 200 dollars not to deal with them anymore. They never have new phones. Never. Their newest phone is a dinosaur compared to what you can get elsewhere. Believe me, unless you want a Blackberry their phone choice is not good. My friends make fun of my brand new outdated phones. To make an insurance claim you must: hand over your phone for 2 days plus, pay 100 dollars, and then maybe, just maybe, they'll let you have a new phone. I have had 4 phones with them, and take care of them because can't afford new ones. Not one has made it to 2 years, usually by the first year they have fallen apart. My boyfriend has ATT-he called, asked, they sent a new phone and added 50 dollars to his next bill. THAT easy to do, with proper customer service.. I paid so much into insurance I could have bought a new phone, so I threw my money away. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES BUY INSURANCE FROM US CELLULAR..I THREW AWAY 200 DOLLARS. The lady above obviously never tried to make an insurance claim with them-you can't. It's not worth it... and I've been a customer for 6 years! They never have the new battery for your phone-though they advertise it like crazy, the battery exchange, I had to wait months before I could get one. Seriously? I got told they were out before the women working there asked what kind of phone I had. Please save yourself the trouble. I know US Cellular works well around here, reception wise, but you will be paying so much money for it elsewhere. You have to give up everything for reception. Six years with me, and they do nothing to keep my business. Worst customer service ever. They rip off West Virginians because they can. Buy a magic jack and stick to a good cell phone provider would be my recommendation.

We've had US cellular for about 2 years now and the reception continues to improve. It is the best plan I have had among carriers. I highly recommend it in the area

I recently up-graded from a Samsung phone to a Kyocera because my Samsung got damaged. I always had 2 bars with good reception on the Samsung. I have no service with the Kyocera.

I've had cellular one previously because both my daughters attend WVU and we had alot of trouble with reception. I didn't buy the insurance and my daughter had one phone that never worked right and they said it was "liquid damage" so I ended up paying almost $200.00 for a new phone; moral of story, buy insurance! U.S. Cellular is a much better service. It is actually rated top in consumer reports for customer satisfaction. I got slapped with overages on our last bill and changed the minutes from 1000 to 1400 sharetalk on 3 phones after that. Incoming calls are free. They still gave me a $25.00 customer credit to help me with the overage charge and it was our fault for forgetting to call the cellphone back from our landline phone so the call would be free. Night-times start at 7:00 p.m. and weekends are free. Just remember to make the call incoming from a landline during the day to the cellphone. The only problem with U.S. Cellular is that reception isn't good in parts of Mannington and parts of South Fairmont. The Motorola V262 is a great flip phone with a great battery life, just fine if you don't need or want a camera phone. I recommend buying the additional text message service if you have teenagers using the phone. Our plan with 3 phones on sharetalk, 1400 daytime minutes, nights and weekends free, extra text message service on two lines, nationwide long-distance in our calling area, insurance on 3 phones comes to about $145.00 a month with taxes and insurance.

No call reception on campus. Can send and receive text messages but sporadic pix messages. Calls go right to voicemail or are dropped upon connection. For an out of stater attending FSU for 4 years, Verizon needs to get service in this area since most out of state students come with Verizon service. If service isn't made available, not only will students change service providers but families back home will too so they can get family share plans. Verizon should definately provide service near universities to accommodate out of state students who come with Verizon.
