I was forced to switch from Alltel to Verizon during the merger. I had service under Alltel, now don't under verizon. Verizon states that they don't provide, "Legacy" Alltel service in Montgomery (and Seth, and other places which Alltel once serviced). I bought my HTC Touch Pro right before the merger was announced. Now Verizon wants me to buy another phone (TP2 for $199 plus 2 year extention to my contract.) They are threatening me with a ETF, so I filed a BBB and FCC complaint and they are crawling all over themselves now.

Verizon has added a tower here or something. My service is great. Better then some other networks.

You people complain about not having service in little podunk towns in WV, it is not worth them putting up a cell tower in every little town in the state, there are only 1.5 million people in the entire state= not many people. they can use the same amount of money in GA and help out 10 times that many. It is not worth their time nor money!

Lousy service since Cincular took over AT&T. Cingular may not be supporting older TDMA service in this area (they're pushing GSM, but that is not fully deployed, either). Service has always been weak, but now seeems to be even worse. I am very dissappointed with Cingular. I considered going to GSM, but users report coverage is spotty. I guess company brass considers the market here not worth their investment.
