Alltel

5 Out of 5 (5 stars) | South Park / Morgantown, Morgantown, WV 26501 |

Great service here with Alltel (which has America's largest wireless network). I always have all 5 of my bars. Calls, texting are great. Only thing I can't do here is access the internet / AIM and download anything, but I don't do that much anyway. I'm roaming here, but I can grab a signal off nearly anybody's tower.

Sprint

4 Out of 5 (4 stars) | Sabraton | White Ave., Morgantown, WV 26501 |

We have had Sprint for two years. Basically, we are very happy. We will probalby renew in October with Spring again for two years. Service in Morgantown, Clarksburg, Charleston, Huntington is good. Outside of those areas service is spotty at best. Service goes a short way into PA then no service until you get almost to Pittsburgh, PA.

Sprint

4 Out of 5 (4 stars) | Sabraton / Downtown, Morgantown, WV 26505 |

Other than customer service that seldomly speaks English, let alone are located within this country, I would highly recommend Sprint. I was always a little weary about such a big company, since US Cellular and Cellular One are the dominant carriers around here, but not only here. Wherever I travel I have consistent service as well as no surprises with overage's on my bill.

My service with Cellular One has had many problems since I upgraded to their GSM service from my old service. The coverage is shoddy, but has gotten a tiny bit better recently. Phone calls are regularly dropped and some intersections routinely have no coverage. One odd problem is that my call will be dropped and immediately my phone will register 4-5 bars of coverage as soon as it drops my call. Customer service is very poor and is NOT customer friendly. The customer service people blamed the phone and finally replaced it (after 4 service calls, which they only documented 2 of them and fraudulently claimed I didn't call the other 2 times). The replacement phone had exactly the same problems as the previous phone, so it obviously was not the phone that was the problem. Furthermore, when I have travelled with my phone, the problem has gone away in other areas, which supports the conclusion that service here is shoddy. I would not recommend Cellular One for the Morgantown, WV area. US Cellular and Sprint may be the better options.

The reception is poor to none at best. All calls are dropped, some people have had to call me a dozen times before it even gets through. This is a major University... ... why can't they get better reception? Since I have GSM I was told that there should be no problems... ... ... ..wrong.

My Cellone Story... . My wife and I were loyal Cellone customers with their TDMA service. Their plans met our needs and their price point was acceptable we payed 29.99 per month for 400 minutes free nights and weekends and Free mobile to mobile. We started receiving promotionsin the mail to switch form our digitral service to GSM very attractive promotions an extra hundred dollars credit on our account free Nokia 3620's free data package for three months nation wide roaming / LD. Their propaganda spouted how wonderful their GSM service was better quality better reception. So we signed up. (even though it was 10.00 more per month per line than our old service) We were in for a huge surprise. After being used to our flawless TDMA service our GSM service was useless dropped calls unable to make calls and worst of all horrible call quality words were missing syllables whole sentences were lost. This was more frustrating than the droppping calls. I called cellone and they assured me they were aware of the problems and they were being worked on. I asked to switch back to our TDMA service and they said they could do it but they couldn't put us back on our original plan because it was no longer being offered. Well that really sucked because both my wife and I work in PA and the only plan with free roaming in that area was now double what we were paying just one month ago. I was not a happy camper and cellone refused to be helpful in any way besides giving me a onetime curtesy credit of $15.00 for the poor service. It really sucked that we were paying 80.00 per month to use phones which were in effect useless. To make a long story short after about 2 months of horrible service (essentially no service) and another 5 months of very spotty service finally things got to the point of being almost as good as the TDMA service and now I have a 3 miles stretch of 79 that was never covered by the TDMA service that is now covered with GSM however there are still problems on 68 that were never there with the TDMA service. (I take 79 and my wife takes 68 to / from work) So we are finally at a point now were are service is acceptable not stellar mind you but acceptable.

Dobson Cell One (DCS)310-560 sucks big time in Morgantown It took me at least 10 times per call to connect to thier network(roaming via cingular) My friend tried at least 15 times to call me to only wind up to a fast busy signal( didn't even go to VM) There are STILL serious capacity issues in Morgantown with GSM. Hell the students aren't even back yet. Can't wait to see what happens this year when they return in a week or so. This happened with 5 out of 5 bars on my phone. Fairmont by the way has very good coverage through DCS.

I have good reception on Interstate 79 from Clarksburg all the way into Morgantown. I have been very happy with the recption that I have in town. My reception has dropped as low as 2 bars (out of 4), and I have had some in and out in conversation, but I have only had one dropped call (out of about 30). Overall, satisfying service.

I purchased my new GSM plan because it was said to be better than the digital service. Man did I get suckered into that one. The digital service was better than the "new and improved" GSM service. I drive to work from Morgantown to Bridgeport, and the reception that I get is horrible, dropped calls every 5 miles, static, and just hang ups, espically in the Fairmont area. If I knew what the service would have been like, I would have stayed with my digital sevice. And the service at my home which is in the smack-dab middle of Morgantown, sucks!
