US Cellular needs to get off their butts and stop lying to customers about servicing Richwood. They say they do but there is no service period within a 10-20 mile radius of the city. It's really annoying. Sprint, Alltel, Verizon, and US Cell customers be cautious when driving from Richwood to Snowshoe there is no service there at all for CDMA x1 customers let alone just regular CDMA coverage.

Eastbrooke is supporting GSM and GPRS services but still not giving their customers the joy of using GSM yet. I have Dobson CellularOne and GSM signal is almost flawless in the area. Once you leave Richwood is where the problems occur. Still a huge 10 mile deadspot and a 20 mile one from Richwood through Nettie to Summersville. Heck not even good signal in Canvas a somewhat suburb area of Summersville. They still aren't supporting Voicemail correctly or CallerID services which is retarded. Signal in town is good tho but they need to do something about the deadness inside like my cousin's house is no service but she lives in town. Outside her house is 5 bars but inside nothing so it needs tweaked there. Also in stores dead signal when here in the mall and in Target here in Morgantown 3-5 bars inside buildings, inside WVU owned buildings 5 bars the whole time since WVU and CellularOne Dobson have an agreement with each other. Right now GSM is on just nothing for their customers yet, services all work except CallerID and Voicemail are funky, when you make a call to someone with CallerID it will say Unknown Call for some odd reason, and still dead spots in the places where there shouldn't be any. Cingular, AT&T, CellularOne Highland and Dobson, and possibly T-Mobile users shouldn't experience any major signal problems in this area other than dead spots in places there shouldn't be any. As long as you stay on major roadways like US 19 and I-79 shouldn't have any problems.

US Cellular still claims it has service in Richwood, WV but they are lying. There is no service outside of Summersville making US Cell customers in a large black hole as they travel through Richwood to Snowshoe Mtn. Right now the only provider is TDMA Eastbrooke Cellular operating under the name CellularOne and they have only in town signal but nothing outside of town. With US Cell you have to drive within about 5 miles of the city line of Summersville to get great reception without fuzzy or dropped calls. CellOne has offered decent service through there by putting up the only tower in a huge dead zone between Craigsville and Summersville but still there is a slight dead zone before you get to the Muddelty split then you begin to get better signal. US Cell has really crappy coverage of Nicholas County and said they do not plan on expanding coverage so if your on Verizon, Alltel, or US Cell you will have no signal or Analog while driving Rt 55 from outside of Summersville to Richwood and Marlinton.
