4 Miles South of 280 Near Camp Hill, Camp Hill, AL 36850 Fri Jul 21, 2006

We live in a rural area south of Camp Hill and we get no cell phone reception at all at our house. We've tried AllTel (2 different phones), Cingular, and AT&T, and none of them has a signal that reaches our place. Our only solution has been to install an antenna in the attic and run a cable through the ceiling to a desk in the kitchen. Then, if we plug the "wireless" phone into the antenna connection, we get maybe one or two bars. Usually the calls get dropped even then. A colleague calls this "the cost of rurality."

Reception improves the closer you get to I-20. Once you pass by a large hill on the south side of H-77 where a large cell tower is, just before entering Talladega city you will loose all connectivity. My wife has a Nokia phone with the same results. We both had Analog Roming signal indications but no access once we were in Talladega.

My phone switches to analog service, and then shuts off. I am on a mountaintop in the Talledega National Forest, yet no reception at all. My Dad is pretty much at the mercy of a local hardwired telephone company, and his cell phone only works when he is roaming. We are unable to use our mobile phones at all.

Attention cell services. There is a tower available in Plantersville, Ala. and no one is using it. The first wireless service to give service gets all of Dallas County High School service. Nothing is availble here now.

Complained no service for almost three days and now going on five and no one has called back on land line from company. Reception was getting weaker and weaker daily for months, until no service at all now. Starting to think no maintainence on towers. How do you run a company like that and find new customers???

Service is terrible here. Maybe 1 or 2 bars outside on a good day. Usually 0 bars in house. Bought a two year plan before moving here from Dallas, where the reception was always good, everywhere. Should've waited and signed up with Verizon. Oh well, 12 more month and we'll join the Ex-att ranks, unless they get their problems fixed. Can't afford $150 a month for sometime service.
