Even though my Verizon phone works great in the valley, the Kenai, and in Anchorage, it's dead as a hammer in Valdez. I can't even use the alarm clock function because the phone can't get the time. My Verizon phone turns into a paperweight here in Valdez. The lack of service is really a shame because I was satisifed with the service before my move to Valdez.

Cell One sucks. We live 2.3 and 2.8 mile between towers and still no service here. I could go on and on... .instead, I just got out of my contract.
Was told Cingular had very little coverage but I would be able to place calls now Im stuck with a phone that I never get a signal. I need a new cell company.
Sprint has no towers in Alaska. You are going to be roaming and its tough to find a stable signal. Sometime I will have 5 bars, then a second later none. The service is pretty much slim and none in anchorage.
Watch out for CellOne as they are turning down their TDMA network. I am unable to make calls 75% of the time within Seward Proper with full signal, the other 20% of the time my call is dropped within 5-30 seconds of connecting to their network. Often if I switch to Analog I may have better chances of actually making a successful call. Most calls go straight to voice mail. No useful coverage past Mile 3 (Three Bridges). ACS works to mile 10 and picks back up at mile 12.

Sometimes you can talk somtimes you can't. If it was free it might be an ok deal. I will be glad when my contract is up! Do yourself a favor don't get started with Cellular One. Is the 1 n their name on a scale of 10? Or is it signal strength?
