It should have been a sign when our Uverse guy had to go out to the street to get any sort of reception to make a call. Many calls and complaints to AT&T about the lack of service / coverage in our neighbor hood, was met with, "our map shows you have excellent coverage in your area". Grrr... They finally gave us a microcell, which we hoped would help, and it did for about 5 minutes. Our phones always seemed to get dropped from the microcell and I got tired of trying to figure out why. Our contract just ran out, so we decided to switch to Sprint. To our pleasant surprise, we have 5 bars all through our house. Sayanora AT&T, have fun losing customers due to your poor reception, dropped calls and horrible customer service.

I have been living here for the last 6 years and never had a problem with reception till a month ago... .this really sucks, once I get close to my building my phone goes off and in the house is worse no reception apart from one spot of my room where I get 1bar and I can not move if I am lucky even to talk on the phone for a minute... .my internet stopped working too,at the same time... ..i have called T-Mobile several times and visited their store but nothing seems to happen, I have to walk away from my building in order to use my phone, this is so annoying, I am in a contract and cant wait to move to another carrier

When my family moved to Washington and Lake, my phone went from having somewhat good reception to what reception. Almost every minute, there is no reception, it says searching for signal. Same thing happens when I am inside a building at PCC. I bet t-shit is happy with their lack of reception in this area.

Blackberry Bold 9000

As of 15Nov2011 I no longer have consistent good reception at my house. My phone will burn through the battery looking for a connection, drop from four bars to none, switch from 3G to Edge or GSM, and then lose connection and if it's bad enough the connection indicator will display the red SOS. At that point I have to turn off the phone and turn it on again. It will capture a signal for a hot minute and then the signal will degrade as previously described. Before the 15th the service here was just fine. I had a strong signal everywhere in the house. Now I either have to stand in front of one particular window or go outside, and when I say outside I mean get in the car and go down the block. A trip to the ATT store resulted in a new SIM card, mostly because the kid who dealt with me said that all they can do is put in a new card and see if that helps. When I suggested that this doesn't make sense since I have reception once I leave my house he said "well, this probably won't get better until they let ATT buy T-mobile". Good to know that all that stands between radio silence and making a phone call in my house is a corporation moving closer to becoming a monopoly. Gee, let me get on the phone and call my Congressperson now, oh wait, I don't have any reception... He then went on to tell me what I already know, that people who live along the foothills have bad cell reception. He helpfully added the fact that there was a new cell tower put up at Altadena and Washington but that it's more for people in Altadena... He also suggested that I call customer service if I wanted to find out what's wrong with my reception. Yeah, ok, sure...

River Oaks, San Jose, CA 95134 Sat Nov 26, 2011

I have AT&T, and my primary areas of stay are stokes st and tasman dr. I have not more than 2 bars (out of 5) at stokes, and none in the buildings at river oaks. While I can comfortably call in some areas just 4-5 miles away from these areas. I can never call anyone, nor accept calls. 100% drops.. If I call customer service, to my surprise, they say that they cannot open a ticket for my issue because "nobody complained about the AT&T signal issues in these areas". They say its my "phone's problem"... . and if that does not work out they say "its a maintenance issue"... . I had this issue going on for last 2 months since I am here at San Jose.. so "is the maintenance going on for last two months ??".. I asked them... finally they say... "its because of more number of users in ur area".. God.. just excuses... . excuses... .excuses... .. Its all weird.. they dont provide the real information / causes etc.. It does not seem as if they are really interested in knowing the problem and addressing it... AT&T will face a real issue if they continue in this way... with a bad signals... customer service... . everything... I am going to try Verizon prepaid (go phone) for a month, and then decide how to proceed. Not sure if this works out... but seems that my friends with Verizon were not having the issue..
