I've been a Cingular customer since 96. I've watched my service rapidly decline in the last year. Even got a new phone, thinking it was the problem. Multiple phone calls to Cingular have not improved service. Customer service, while very pleasant, have not been able to resolve my reception problem. My next step... after complaining since March, is to switch this phone for another of the same model. I don't think it's the phone and neither does Cingular, it's the coverage. It works great down in Milford, Delaware! I'm very upset that I've been paying for almost 6 months now for a phone that is useless in my own home. With 18 months of contract to go!
Since July 15, 2005, service has stopped near my home in New Castle County, Delaware. Cingular said all the towers are being converted to gsm only and if I still have an older atdm phone then I am out of luck. If I want service near my home I will have to get a new plan with a gsm phone. My phone works great about 1 / 2 mile away and elswhere in the state. I have a great plan and do not want to change it. Since the Cingular takeover the service has gotten worse. Over 15 minutes to try to talk to a service tech. I miss good old AT&T.
(Rt. 48)Lancaster Pike From Hercules Rd. / (Rt. 48)Lancaster Pike To (Rt. 41) Newport Gap Pik intersection, Hockessin, DE 19707

When driving from Wilmington to Hockessin on Rt. 48, starting at the bottom of the hill at Hercules Rd., the reception fades to nothing by the time you get to the top of the hill at Wilmington Road. I've reached the point where I warn the person I'm talking to in advance that the call will most likely be lost and I will have to call them back.
cing ular - simply the worst I have no reception at home and work for the straight 4 days... .which is middletown, odessa and newark area the cust.serv. tells me they work on it... .
I am west of UDel about 1.5 and all the cell companies admit this area has NO cell service. T-Mobile suggested I forward my cell phone into my home phone when I am at home. Wish I could find even ONE company that serves this area.
There are no cell towers in Newark! I was told this by Nextel and Verizon, and Verizon said they were working on the problem. That was 11 months ago and nothing has changed! Once you get into Newark, it's like you've gone into a radio-free tunnel -- no cell, no push-to-talk, nothing. If one of the cellular providers came to Newark and put up a tower and advertised it, they would be flooded with nearly every person in newark who owns a cell phone. I wouldn't mind paying to break my contract if this happened because right now I can only use my phone if I am NOT in Newark!
No reception at all within most of this building for Verizon. Can't get or place calls. Text msgs. or any 3G service impossible. Co-worker sitting 6 feet behind me has AT&T, and has full service.
