I live right here, and have never had enough of a signal to even connect. If I go just a few hundred yards away from here, however, I have a near perfect signal.

Interstate 57 Between Mile Markers 103 and 109, Centralia, IL 62801 Sun Jun 25, 2006

If you have an emergency between exit 103 and 109 on interstate 57 between Dix, Illinois and Centralia, Illinois good luck. Even if you can pull the mt vernon tower that far good luck for the tower to hand off correctly to the salem tower.

Really bad reception. Also have another phone, analog / digital. Verizon is not who you want if you are in an EMERGENCY situation around here. Service is VERY Poor.

Huntley Rd. / Miller Rd. intersection, Carpentersville, IL 60110 Tue Jun 13, 2006

Moved to the subdivision at Sleepy Hollow and Miller Rds in August of '05 and we both have Nextel. Neither one of us get a decent signal in our house, or in our neighborhood. No signal at all in or around the Dominicks at Randall Rd and Huntley Rd. or near Sleepy Hollow and Huntley Rds. We constantly have "no service", dropped calls, etc. Sometimes our phones won't even ring when someone calls us, and when we leave the house our voicemail ringer goes off, but we never knew we missed a call. However, neither one of us have an expensive or new phone. I have an i730 and he has an i530 (for work). We do not have a land line at our house so its frustrating. My contract with Nextel is up in August and I believe I will switch to Verizon. My friends who have Verizon get service inside my house. Wouldn't that be nice? To have service in your own house?!

Sheridan / Lawrence intersection, Chicago, IL 60640 Mon Jun 12, 2006

Just moved here and nearly was driven out of the City by Verizon. I was their loyal customer in Colorado for many years, and tried to maintain my loyalty here by working through numerous problems with them. Three weeks into my service and atleast 80% of my calls drop all over the City. Have absoloutely no reception in my neighborhood. Most frustrating has been their horrible customer service. Each time I went instore to try to get some answers, I was handed a card and rudely told to call tech service. Each time I called tech service, they informed me I'd need to go to the store. I sat in the store and called tech service three different times. Each time I called I got a new person, who doesn't know the history of what I've been through, and who has a new "idea" of what may fix my problem. This has become a part-time job for me... calling them, re-explaining my problems, going to the store, testing they're solutions, getting no help. It is BEYOND ridiculous. OH, and when tech support says they'll call you back for a follow-up call... trust me, they won't. Or maybe they will and chances are you don't have a signal.
