I live in West Forks, and have to drive 50 miles to receive cell phone service. What happens if there is an emergency, I would have no way of contacting 911!
Sometimes I have no bars, other times, I have no service at all. At least with no bars, I can sometimes get a SMS to go through. At my work in downtown Augusta, it's essentially the same.
I live in California, but visit my father for a month at a time every summer. I have to go that entire month without any texting, because his house has "No Network Connection." We live just 2 minutes away from downtown Bucksport and the bay, and there I average right about in the 3 bar area. Every once in a while, usually at 1 in the morning, a text message will break through and actually get to my phone. The phone shows "AT&T" at the top, meaning it's picking up something, but has no bars whatsoever. If you have a waterview home, your service should be fine, but everywhere else is very grainy.

Instead of improving it is actually going downhill--I get VM messages now two weeks after the fact. It used to be 2 to 3 days-now they show up in two weeks long after people have tried to reach me. I have been going out in the rain for eons with many kinds of phones-it is not the phones-it is MAINE-they just do not care oabout this state. And they expect us to pay higher prices for NOTHING. Something really needs to be done-this is 10 years now My daughter in Litchfield and myself in Windham have not had a COMPLETE phone call in 10 years

No coverage at home. Have to drive up the road to Pineland or to Pownal center to get any coverage. Installed a repeater at the house with no improvement at all.
No reception (occasionally Rogers--Canada) at all for Cingular anywhere around Lubec, Eastport, Whiting, Cutler, Machias... in short, anywhere along the coast of Maine between Jonesport and Calais.

Tower in RT 109 / Rt 111 area must be dead! Can't get bars even when it's in line of sight. Is it's purpose to just attract lightning? Where's Baldacci's promise about state coverage? Probably Lewiston---
