I live in West Forks, and have to drive 50 miles to receive cell phone service. What happens if there is an emergency, I would have no way of contacting 911!
For more than 2 years I had perfect reception here, at my home. Then, absolutely no signal for about 4 months. What's up with that! It's not the phone!
There is no cell phone reception in any of Lubec (pop 1,700). It is just as bad in Cutler. Smaller towns such as Machiasport (pop, 1,100) and Jonesport (pop 1,400) nearby, even Pembroke (pop 800) and Dennysville (pop 300) have cell towers but for some reason Lubec does not. It doesn't make a whole hell of a lot of sense to me.

The Motorola ic 902 uses CDMA to make phone calls and " iDen " for the Direct Connect, hence the model prefix "ic". From about Lewiston up to Farmington / Wilton, the phone is as dead as a doornail.
Sometimes I have no bars, other times, I have no service at all. At least with no bars, I can sometimes get a SMS to go through. At my work in downtown Augusta, it's essentially the same.

Generally no reception on the island, except on the west side facing towers in Rockland and the eastern side facing the tower in Stonington. This is genrally true for all cell carriers as there are no cell sites on the island.
I live in California, but visit my father for a month at a time every summer. I have to go that entire month without any texting, because his house has "No Network Connection." We live just 2 minutes away from downtown Bucksport and the bay, and there I average right about in the 3 bar area. Every once in a while, usually at 1 in the morning, a text message will break through and actually get to my phone. The phone shows "AT&T" at the top, meaning it's picking up something, but has no bars whatsoever. If you have a waterview home, your service should be fine, but everywhere else is very grainy.
