We purchased the phones through T-Mobile because it was the only service that worked in our area. They worked fine for 18 months until the beginning of July 2006. We now have no coverage at all at home. (Three separate phones) The phones will pick up as you approach I 95 and Rt 1 area in Wells.
Had strong reception up Rt 295 and Rt 1 until Wiscasset. From that point on, there was no service. Very disappointed in this as we are seriously thinking of moving to Rockland and LOVE our Nextel Direct Connect service. Have been with Nextel for years; their customer service is great and the plans are very uncomplicated. No roaming charges; no long distance charges. They need to expand into this untapped market!
not worth 95.00 per month when the only place it comes in is portland or there about. why thay said oxford in their ad I will never know. i wish I could get my money back as I lost my deposit for not paying. why should i? they didn't do a dam thing for me except take my money and charge a crazy amt for not even being able to use the darn things. I can not even change the sim cards for a different carrier that would work in my area. BEWARE! Nextel / sprint is not worth the money!

When I first got my phone a little over a year ago, I was very impressed with the service I got at my house. (2-4 bars, it also fluctuated, but I always could make a call.) Then for a couple of weeks the service was non-existant completely, and then it came back. Now, my service has gone completely again for a few weeks now. I've tried all the T-Mobile helplines. They've been very nice, but cannot tell me why I lost service. Some have even said that I should never have gotten service in my area in the first place, but obviously I did since that was primarily how I made all my calls for a year. I don't really know what's going on with my phone. I get good service in bigger cities like Augusta / Waterville / Bangor and such, but not really Belfast for some reason. I think I'm going to switch carriers, I'm sick of T-Mobile, but I keep hearing from people that its a good company.
Virgin Mobile supposedly uses Sprint infrastructure, so in theory there's coverage, But in practice, there is absolutely no coverage in the greater Sanford area. The border with Wells is the point at which a call can be placed; even then you risk a dropped call until nearing route 1.
Verizon said there was service in Blue Hill (I had Verizon where I lived before). They insisted that there was service even though I knew I was in a dead spot. They said it would be covered under roaming, but when the tech person went to set it up he said it was not possible to set it up. Verizon finally agreed to terminate service with no penalty but it took months before I reached a living breathing employee who knew what she was doing who put though the termination of service without penalty and arranged for credit for all the bills they had sent me.
