No reception at all. I may as well not even have a cell phone, as it NEVER works. I've also tried Nextel, AT&T and Sprint PCS with the same results. We need another tower here! It's not like I'm living in the middle of nowhere. I live in a suburb of Baltimore, just a few miles from the city line. This is totally unacceptable. I would change carriers, but I can't find one that is any better. Based on the reviews on this site, it looks like everyone else is having the same problem, regardless of who their carrier is.

CingularATT gives "wait for service signal throughout south Ocean Pines area, indoors and out. However, there are two remedies: 1) Make sure your phone is fully charged so as to provide proper voltage and 2)Despite full charging, carry charger with you and leave plugged in on window ledge. That way, by inductance, you tap into electrical wiring in house, use charger cable to phone and let antenna be as effective as possible. Wireless phones are meant for cities, really, where many buildings have a cell on the roof. Besides, the output of a cellphone is only.6 watt(6 / 10 of a watt) and operates in 1200-1400 megahertz band. When driving, use the cigarette charger that you have bought (?), and leave it plugged into your wireless phone.. That assures maximum voltage for the phone and use of the car frame as a ground. Cingular / ATT has poor coverage in more sparsely populated area, like eastern shore of Chesapeake Bay. That should be no surprise. But my neighbor was complaining about poor service she got from her Verizon wireless service on the shore. One can get extended antennas and amplifiers to increase output of phone, but legality is uncertain.
AT&T wireless, and later Cingular, served this location fine for the past several years. A few weeks ago (2nd week in August 2005) the coverage in and around my apartment complex degraded to zero signal. A surprisingly pleasant and helpful Cingular representative provided a $15 credit and filled out a coverage feedback form. Nevertheless, this particular dead spot now negates the primary usage of my cellphone. Cingular... lowering the bar. Anyone know if Verizon offers reasonable coverage in Greenbelt?

I run a home business and have NO reception. I have to drive out to Hickory Ridge Village to get ONE bar and the calls get dropped. I called Cingular and they tell me I'm in a HIGH RECEPTION AREA (by the way, they area is "Washington DC" so that tells you how accurate they are). Their maps and database show high reception... I've always got good customer service from Cingular, so I've been persistent. They said they'll be sending "updates" to my cell phone, set up a "network quality case" and a "technical case" to investigate why MY PHONE is not working. They said I have a tower 3 miles away and should be getting excellent reception. EXTREMELY frustrated because my OUT OF BUSINESS without my cell. I'll be trying Verizon or Nextel even if they don't let me out of the contract. But I have faith that they'll do the right thing. Lost in Columbia...

I live right here and we never get any reception in our house, and poor\spotty reception if we go outside. For being a major highway intersection it is pretty cruddy that it doesn't work.
As soon as I turn into my subdivision my service blacks out. Nothing... not even a bar. There is one spot in my back yard that if you hold your head crooked, you may be able to get a signal... I switched my Wife and Daughter to Verizon and the service works fine.
TDMA reception in Greenbelt is shaky. A year ago, AT&T decided to start using a different type of tower that left my particular phone model in the gutter, so I had to buy a new one, which they did not assist me with financially even though it was their fault. After that, reception was reasonable for a while, but lately it has taken a complete nosedive. My phone has one bar of reception, is always in roam, can't make outgoing calls and the battery drains in a day (due to its inability to find a good signal). It sometimes receives text messages and sometimes is willing to send them.
Always get a call drop here when I'm driving along. The rest of SP is pretty well covered except for when you go inside houses but I dont think they could do anything about that since nobody wants a cell tower in their backyard.
