Coverage in this area is terrible. You have to drive a mile towards town to get a signal. You have to stand on your tip toes with aluminum foil on your head just to get one bar. Sprint is terrble here too. Not sure about Verizon but will see which of my friends can come by and check the reception. If they get a good signal I will switch to Verizon.
Have tried Cingular, Nextel, Verizon and now T-mobile. None have decent coverage for miles in all directions including Littlestown, PA (a fairly large town). Most of the area has "0" bars, none more than 2 bars. Have lived here for a decade, all companies listed above have "promised" new cell towers in area, However when we offered our farm for cell site (on a ridge) none were interested.

I moved here in August 06. Reception was OK. No calls in the basement, and not calls in the kitchen. No Big Deal. Since January I have had no reception at all. I will get 1 or 2 bars. I even get notified that I have a voice mail. Unfortunately, I cannot see who called because there is no received call number. Also, I cannot check my voicemail because I do not have enough reception. I called Cingular, and they were very helpful-AT FIRST. They sent me a new SIM chip. Once I received the SIM chip, I called Cingular to have it activated. No change in reception with the new SIM chip. The lady said that because of the Cingular / AT&T merge, they are working on the towers and I would not have good reception. OK-so when will this be fixed, and what can I do to fix this issue? She does not know how long it will take to get fixed and there is nothing I can do. She was pleasant; I will give her that. Now, what do I do with a phone that I cannot use near or in my house?
Nextel is terrible. I get dropped calls all the time in my house and sometimes you go from having all bars to none. What's up with that? I would not recommend Nextel to anyone! Stay away! Verizon wireless works great. It was funny because me and my mom were in the car... ..she didn't have service... .i did! LOL!
Cingular has no coverage in some of the buildings in Towson. I work with people who have Verizon and they have no problems. I have been through 2 LG Phone and now a Soney Ericsson and it is just as bad. Cingular is rasing the right. I was going to go with Verizon and I was stuiped and signed with Cingular for another two years. They suck
For the past 4 years, I had excellent reception. Since the middle of February 2007, there has been no reception at all. I called Cingular customer service and all they want to do is to sell me their GSM service. They don't seem to care about their old loyal customers.
Most of the time I get no signal at all in this area. Many dropped calls and poor or no signal at home. Even when I go outside to make a call its hit or miss to even get a signal. Many of my calls go straight to voicemail and when a call is dropped it takes several atempts to reconnect. Text messages sometimes dont even go through in this area.
