No reception even though phone shows 2 to 4 bars on signal strength. Have to go east about 4 miles towards DeTour Village to get a true signal. Will show roaming at times also.

I have had Alltel in Houghton Lake for over a year now and the reception has never been great at all. If you are in town, a mere 8 miles from the house, you get good reception, however I do not get any reception at home or at work (in Roscommon) and over 70% of the calls in those two areas are dropped or not received at all. All areas around the lake are extremely poor in reception. I dropped Nextel when I moved up here and Alltel's reception is about the same if not worse than Nextel / Sprint for this area. As you can see, I have had two different phones and it has not made a difference in reception. Even updating the roaming did nothing at all. Looks like I shop for another carrier.

Phone works if you go 1 / 2 Mile South or North on Adams Road. Tried 3 Watt Amplifier and External Antennae, no difference. Would be nice if Consumers Power would let someone place an antennae on their tower on Cassidy Road! This is a huge tower with only one antennae on it!

We were sold a total bill of goods. Alltell indicates good coverage on their lying maps, the agent in Alpena (25 miles away) said she has three bars in our neighborhood, but admitted on the second visit that she has to use an outdoor repeater / amplifier and tried to sell us that. OK coverage in town, but what good is that? The phones go back before the trial period is up - I can't wait for the foot-dragging and BS to start... . BTW, the next ploy was that Alltell is putting up a new tower soon - near the Walmart in town! That will do a lot of good out here.

There are so many houses, cabins, camps, and campgrounds North of M94. There aren't many options when it comes to wireless service. Alltel is supposed to be world's largest network so where is our tower? I sell Alltel and I have to constantly tell people that there isn't any reception in that area. Let's change that!

Many areas in Benzie county are extremely poor to no reception with Alltel and this phone. As it does not receive an analog signal, calls are constantly being dropped or will not go through at all.

Was sold this phone and plan and told that they had coverage in this area. They lied to make a profit. Pure greed. There is no alltell service here. Don't even try! A waste of money.

stay away from alltel. service is like a crap shoot.

The Phone does not work in Secord Township. If idon't travel downstate, all winter I still have to pay what's on my contract with no mins. used. Doesn't make any scense.

I'm getting no reception(not one bar) east of the jct. of M-95 and Scott Drive, north of Iron Mountain, MI.
