No reception at all on the south side of Ess Lake. Have to drive to the Hillman Airport (cty. rd. 459 and cty rd. 624) to get full service. Very irritating.
Ever since the merge with Alltel and Verizon, Alltel has taken a 50 to 75 % turn for the worst. Thanks for nothing Verizon. How about taking my bill down too? Didn't think so! Layne Mercer, long time mobile user but not much longer for Verizon ! Does any mobile phone work well in Gladwin County?
I am looking to buy a cottage in this area. I have Verizon and was using my phone's GPS to navigate there. It failled to connect for navigation and there was no signal to make a call unless I stood at the edge of the lake. Even then it was not a signal that would support a call of more than a minute. I even reprogrammed my roaming capabilities and saw no improvement even doing that. Since then, checking coverage maps for all the major carriers showed that none of these companies has service in this area. Some company is missing a market share in that area.
NO signal at all. The phone goes dead searching for a signal. I complained to Verizon about it and they told me we should be able to use the phone at least outside because they pay for tower usage there. I told them they aren't getting their money's worth and niether am I. I am currently looking for another carrier and the only one I've found is Centennial.

Finally got my dream phone (iPhone 3GS) and jumped from my longtime carrier (Verizon) to AT&T. Got the two iPhones home (one for my wife) only to discover zero signal from anywhere in my own home--one mile from the store. I don't mean a bad signal--I mean NO signal. We could not make or receive any calls nor send or receive text messages. Both iPhones went back within 24 hours and AT&T mercifully refunded all our money. Nice people, incredible device, terrible network. Back to Verizon I go.
No reception any any three cell phones. Can't access voicemail. If phone shows even one bar, its only temporary, and call is dropped. Tried speaking with AT&T rep., literally got the run around, forwarding me to many others who would "help" me. One person even said they were having problems with their towers in the area. Pretty lengthy tower problem.
